Otherism is about pitching groups against each other while the government makes policy and runs the country for their benefit and I blame those seduced by this rhetoric as much as the government itself.

I'm not sure that your cultural heritage has much to do with your patriotism.

I am a white middle aged man who has undoubtedly benefited from privilege, yet still I am deeply ashamed to be British.

I blame much of this on the current government but it is not just their fault. They have simply uncovered a national self loathing brought on by otherism. The notion that there are groups in society responsible for all of the country's problems.

So Starmer says that he will rewrite the Brexit deal but not seek to rejoin the EU. Why is he so scared to say that he will aim to repair the damage inflicted by Brexit and if necessary would consider rejoining? Maybe this is a gradual shift in the right direction.
Surely this is the most reasonable policy.. unless he is a closet ERG Tory.

This morning I listened to the latest ep, when Nish and Coco interviewed Jacqueline Mckenzie, a human rights lawyer. She has proof that the Tories have launched a smear campaign but to date, only the Guardian have reported on it.

When I saw this on TV my reaction was surprise that Spain was so much more liberal than the UK. Now that I have seen Spain's reaction, I see it was totally inappropriate.

I saw an advert by M&S featuring chef Tom Kerridge when he referred to animals, in particular cows, as 'product'.

Maybe if we started referring to animals for what they are i.e. not pork or bacon but pigs and not beef but cows then people would feel different about the industrial scale production and abuse of loving, sentient and intelligent animals for food.
