Also, I'm pretty sure I've said this before, but I'll say it again:

Part of your job as a senior is to tell your juniors about your fuckups. The embarrassing cringe reckless and lazy bullshit that you did when you were new, and the various times you brought down Prod. We ALL did it sometime. And then tell them: the moment you realized you fucked up, I know, the impulse is to try and cover it up, but don't do it. Come to the seniors you trust, and they'll help you unfuck it, and fight management tooth and claw like mamma and pappa bears to defend you from any shitheads in management. Because that's what our seniors did to us.

Running a successful business with warehouses and hub distribution and HR and lawyers and salespeople and staff and happy customers... MAGA: "is this communism?"

america's hardest working lounge..1d g I would gladly submit to the glorious senior leadership of Costco (Nasdaq: COST)
John Andrews @johnandrews . 8h Costco management is full communist now, working towards a socialist style central supply. The store managers and "team leaders" hire carefully, curating their worker- centric power structure, while Sr Management works with government/NGO power structures to position Costco where it wants to be. You can see this is you look closely.. WA state liquor distribution, COVID-shutdown deals... it is over-the-top Anti-Trump, too.

I sold my beautiful Fender Jaguar Japanese bass on Reverb from someone not too far away in Utah. Turns out he was pining for one since he sold his own same model back when he lived in Hillsboro Oregon.... and... we think he just bought it back, since I bought it at Five Star Guitar in Beaverton...

which is a beautiful thing.

Huh, guess the muskrat has time to focus on his businesses again… one of them abusing Apple push notifications to send poorly targeted sales pitches to folks that no longer own their vehicles but still have the app.

A push notification from Tesla titled “Protect your Tesla”, saying “Maintain the appearance of your Tesla by preventing damage and premature wear this summer.”

The Canadian and Mexican governments could set up COVID booster clinics just past the drive-in border crossings, and right near the exits at airports. Require a US passport, charge a service fee of $25, and have a kiosk to let the recipient send a personalized email to RFK Jr.

Two different approaches to debugging a software problem:

The Sudoku approach: stare at the limited set of clues you have, and think harder and harder about them until you find a way to deduce something useful.

The Minesweeper approach: don't even try to figure out the solution from only the clues you have right now. Instead, focus on finding a way to acquire another clue, and then using that to get another, and so on. Eventually you've collected so many clues that the answer is obvious.

Sometimes the Sudoku approach is necessary, because you've got all the clues you're ever going to get. But I think my new motto is "Never Sudoku a problem when you can Minesweeper it."

@SenseException I’d have to vote for a fourth option: nearly zero, only from close friends, PSR-8 died in 2020 with the outbreak. :(

I say that as an implementer of the interface who has for the last few years pretty radically reduced his usage of it to just very close friends and family.

The CEO of #gumroad is a DOGE guy. You might want to quit spending money on that site if you're using it.

@ramsey congrats! I’ve been at it since last September, working with my doctor… 25lbs lighter so far. The struggle is real.

apparently there is a “rave collective” in toronto that has offered to be on-call for any reports of right-wing protests to bring a portable sound system and drown them out with 200bpm hardcore acid techno

in #revealjs I have a section containing a div with the r-stack class, that contains divs with fragment and current-visible classes. How do I get the FIRST of those to be displayed when the section loads, but go away when I move to the next one? Right now I get a blank page when the page loads and have to step twice to get the first content, which seems odd. Anyone have a solution? My normal tricks don't seem to be working. :/

@Crell ugh. Have you checked their bug database? I’d be kinda surprised if that hasn’t been reported by now, as that’s pretty bad syntax to be leaving behind!

Here is a comment block I wrote today:

> note that this file is talking about the code in the monorepo, but it's not part of the monorepo... so odds are good that this is out of date and you'll need to update it before you use it. Or at least validate it is correct.

Here is how co-pilot suggest completing it:

> Or something. I dunno, I'm not your mom.

Look chat-geppetto… I don’t need your help writing snark. I was doing it way before your v0 codebase stole its first look at someone’s code.

Actually, no... one final post, and I'm dropping the CW for it... If you know anyone that works for intuit on this software, ask them how their mental health is... because you ship your org chart, and this product tells me their org chart has been stagnate and abused for YEARS. Engineers are human, and humans deserve better. 8/8
