Cartero

Cartero is the lightweight HTTP client that you can use to test your APIs. Avoid bloat, respect your privacy, reject cloud; that's the motto.

Hi! Sorry for the lack of updates in the last couple of weeks, I’ve been busy with other projects.

I’m moving forward the refactors scheduled for 0.3 in order to finish them. I’ll also probably merge every pending PR and translation patch and release 0.2.3 with a couple of fixes waiting to be applied.

GTK markup language Blueprint becomes part of GNOME

This week's This Week in GNOME mentions that Blueprint will become part of GNOME.

Blueprint is now part of the GNOME Nightly SDK and is expected to be part of the GNOME 49 SDK. This means, apps relying on Blueprint won’t have to install it manually anymore.

Blueprint is an alternative to defining GTK/Libadwaita user interface vi

If you use Arch Linux or another pacman-based distro, voting for your favourite packages from AUR is always a good idea to signal which packages are interesting enough to have in the extra repository.

If you use Cartero and you have it installed through AUR, remember to vote for it if you have an account!

(Off-topic) During the account migration last weekend, I had to tell to readers from Bluesky that they'd have to find another way to read these status updates (maybe join the fediverse??) because this instance does not allow to use the bridge.

But, I have to say that being able to use the whole character limit instead of having to write a thread of shorter posts just to artificially fit within Bluesky's 300 characters limit is very nice.

Take that, pseudo-federated blockchain-funded blue-site!

Cartero 0.2.2 has been released. This is a minor patch with bugfixes, most of them related to the URL text field and how it interacts with the query params table.

Also, this version updates the translations for: Czech, German (new!), Basque (new!), Portuguese, Tamil.

Deployment to Flathub and Snap Store is in progress, you'll receive the update in a few hours.

Full release notes and download links for every operating system at github.com/danirod/cartero/rel and cartero.danirod.es.

If you add the number of downloads of @cartero in Flathub + the number of downloads of all the GitHub artifacts (tooomm.github.io/github-releas), Cartero has already been downloaded more than 10.000 times πŸŽ‰

(Thanks to those who download the GPG signature files and the SHA256SUMS file, by the way πŸ˜…)

I've started to update the vendored dependencies that I need to release the precompiled versions (the releng process for Cartero on macOS is still comically slow). Hopefully this means Cartero 0.2.2 releases today.

I was going to do this yesterday, but our national powergrid system said "haha nope".

If you are just seeing these posts and wondering "hey, didn't I already followed your account?", well, this account has moved to a new server, so we have to setup a pinned post again. πŸ˜€

A little ironic, the original welcome post was foreshadowing that we TOTALLY should get a blog to own our status updates. Don't worry, the posts from the old account have been exported for future archival.

Hello there! πŸ‘‹

This is the fediverse account for #Cartero, the free and lightweight HTTP client that you can use to test your APIs.

This account will share status updates about the development of Cartero that definitely should be posted to a blog or feed in our website instead. πŸ₯΄
