I wrote about the new dynamics of online harassment and why "don't feed the trolls" might be outdated advice: https://diegoe.be/2025/07/01/the-new-troll-diet/
Watching a popular YouTuber go down the Linux rabbit hole inspired me to write about my journey with Linux.

@DaMu I don't really think employee retention is a useful metric anymore, at least in the US. After so many rounds of layoffs in corporate America, and companies like Canonical making everyone do hours and hours of unpaid labor for just the chance at a job, a lot of people are staying put until it becomes intolerable.
Canonical wrote a blog post to say it's not changing its crazy hiring practices. For those unaware, Canonical asks for your high school GPA and extracurricular activities in job applications (even if it was decades ago), and then has more rounds of tests and interviews than most other tech companies. 🫠
There are a ton of horror stories about Canonical's recruitment on Reddit and other sites. One person said "It took 81 days, a CV, a cover letter, an application form, a 22-question written interview, two standardised tests, and four (4) in-person interviews. And that wasn’t even close to the entire recruitment process!"
PowerPC processors, Newton PDAs, and other relics of Apple's past are still present in modern Mac computers. You just have to look in a font! #mac #apple #vintagecomputing

"Enshittification" is capitalism working as intended. Just call it capitalism.
PNG is back!
https://www.programmax.net/articles/png-is-back/ (by Chris Blume)
A new PNG spec was just released! […]
[…] After 20 years of stagnation, PNG is back with renewed vigor!
What's new?
* Proper HDR support (future‐proof, too!)
* Finally recognizes APNGs (animations!)
* Officially supports Exif data
* General tidying up—fixing errata, clarifications, etc.
Hell yeah, NYC.
