Tired of "free" QR code generators that are full of ads and trackers, that share your data, and that want to sell you something? Me too. Here's my act of resistance: I made a one-page site that works entirely in your browser to generate a simple QR code. And that's all it does. You can download the HTML page and run it locally, even. Read the source; nothing up my sleeves. Just a QR code.

My offer to you -- I will continue to pay for the domain name and web hosting for it, myself. If you find it valuable, you can pay it back by creating your own useful thing for the world and releasing it for free. Let's take back the friendly web, one vexingly-monetized utility at a time!

Sustainable transport is possible! But it requires a lot of political willpower to create that opportunity. And then people to adapt. Austria & Europe still have big challenges ahead. Service needs to continue to improve and get more interconnected across country borders.

Of course, there would be some discount options, that I have not considered in that calculation. F. e. 50% off for all train rides (biggest chunk) via "Vorteilscard". Or inflexibility via "Sparschiene" tickets.

But no. I got full flexibility and I would still break even. This is awesome!

Here in Austria, we have a "climate ticket" that is valid for most public transport in the whole country. It costs 1095€/y. I always thought, that it doesn't pay off for me, but I had it anyway for the convenience. Turns out, I used it for over 2200€ worth of public transport tickets in 2024.
