@franksting I was writing about senseless violence. I agree it is ‘better’ that your friend/relative/child is injured and traumatised rather than killed. But whether Doyle’s disregard and contempt for human life led to legal murder or legal GBH seems a moot point in the context of my argument. I was asking the questions to figure out what you were saying. But I see your point, which I think was about the precision of my language, rather than the content of my argument and I have corrected the post. Thanks for responding.

“Socialism, according to the sociology of its founders, was conceivable only in international terms. A national or even nationalistic socialism (= National Socialism, fascism) is sociological nonsense and, in the strict sense of the word, mass deceit.”

@franksting I agree that there is a technical distinction between a violent assault that could have killed a person/ people and a violent assault that did kill a person/ people. I changed the word after someone else said the same thing. But what point are you making apart from semantics? It doesn’t seem to change my argument very much.

@Nibor4000 what point you making?

2025-06-02

@franksting your point?

@amcewen it’s a fair point. His actions were murderous. Fortunately he didn’t quite kill anyone. I’ll edit the post

Following the senseless violence by a “53 year old white British man” in #liverpool I’ve written some thoughts on the disturbingly frequent phenomenon of men killing strangers with guns or cars.

Crashing a car into a crowd of people bears all the hallmarks of the far-right. Their violence, whether white-nationalist, Islamo-fascist, Hindutva, Zionist or any other flavour, is driven by a hatred of the mass of humanity. They see the other as infidel, sheeple, untermensch, human animals etc. We must learn to see it, name it and oppose it.

More thoughts on this to come in longer form #ynwa #lfc #antifa

Haters didn’t think we were gonna win the league… #lfc youtu.be/EuvzHy9mfTI?si=6mJckL

@mike @mlawton first of all, May should be only be for the FA cup final and county cricket. Secondly, we’ve won the league. Thirdly, we’ve won the league.

However, I saw some things the same and some differently in the #lfc v Brighton game. In no particular order:

I liked Quansah in that game, showing potential. Still bit error-prone, but love the Matip-esque charges upfield; and he covered well, showing good strength and pace.

Sadly, Elliot has mostly not impressed in the, admittedly, few appearances he has had this season. Keeps giving the ball away and I don’t think Slot enjoys that. He can shoot from distance but that’s not really our style anyway.

I love the guy and I have been saying for a while that he should start more, but Endo is not a right back! Has no one been talking about why Slot didn’t bring Trent on? Is he leaving him for the last game?

I actually think Grav has been good post the rest he had against Chelsea. Looked more sprightly again. Covered a lot. Picked up the ball from the centre halves/keeper. Still can’t shoot, but that’s been the same all season. I think the team around him is a bit dysfunctional.

Nuñez, sadly, has gone. He’s not even showing the enthusiasm for chasing man down anymore.

Chiesa has a future. He’s not quite used to the physicality or found his feet in the team but he will get games and goals next year I think.

And some other thoughts. But yeah, weird post-pre season vibes. Not proper games. Hope we end well at anfield and TAA gets a proper send off

@RobertoArchimboldi interesting though that the bureaucrats who drafted the edicts didn’t seem to realise that. Perhaps still true that on some level they believe their own rhetoric

Interesting case study of the economic effects of forced deportations from 200 years ago.

A Russian law of 1823 ordered all Jewish people to be removed from the villages and forced into towns. A government report concluded of their own measures:

“While it has ruined the Jews, it does not in the least seem to have improved the condition of the villagers.”

Seriously considering leaving my seat empty for last home game against Palace.
Over 50 years I've never heard a Liverpool player booed by our own fans.

A line was crossed today and there's no going back.
It used to be about supporting the team on the pitch, nothing else mattered.
This must have affected the players so much, are they just supposed to forget about it?

I’m gutted that Trent is leaving #lfc of course. Liverpool fans know he is an exceptional talent, who almost redefined the right back role. We have seen how he has worked to keep adding things to his game (he’s almost two footed now for instance). Yet the media have given him stick at different time over the years, and he’s not been picked for England as much as he should have been: can’t defend blah blah blah. After the pundits were praising Cole Palmer to the skies in the last game I was struck how the latter has never got the same scrutiny as Trent. Is it because they are happier with a white (presenting at least) “Englishman” from Manchester than a racialised black scouser?

Regardless of the reasons for it, given the media pressure he has to live through in England, I can understand that Trent might want to leave. Add to that, being the one (or at least the most prominent) scouser on the team is not an easy role. I’ve heard other ex-Liverpool players say the same. Everybody knows someone who knows you and want to bother your family about how “your Trent” is doing etc. You’ve got to carry the expectations of the city in a different way to other players.

On top of all this, he’s young. He knows he has a short career. He might want to try living abroad and playing in a different league. Fine. Rush, Aldridge, McManaman, Owen did the same. Gerrard was sorely tempted. Let’s just hope, like Rush, Trent comes back after year.

So, sad as I am that he’s leaving, I respect his decision and I don’t want to hear him getting any abuse from Reds. That’s for outsiders only. Unless of course he follows it up with a Michael Owen move to Utd. In which case, yeah, he’s dead to me.

Want to say thank you to the #mastodonreds for helping me through this happy successful season for #lfc. undoubtedly the culture of the club and its fans is a big factor in the team’s consistency. And the chat on here has been good too.

Bringing home the 20th top flight title is a credit to both Slot’s management and to Klopp’s understanding of both history and legacy. Jürgen utilised the positives in the LFC dna to grow a team that has put a stamp on an era of the premier league despite the emirati wealth splashing around in another city not so far away. And then he knew when to leave and to whom to leave his squad.

Back on our perch!

Bouncing...

#LFC got the result yesterday. One of those where we were unlucky not to score early on when we were dominant, then it got more difficult. If Mo had scored instead of hitting both the posts I think it would have been a lot more of a fun watch. It had to be a goal from a corner and in the end, after about 25 of them, it was. Thanks, Trent, for your contributions

See Fasica's report at data-workers.org/fasica/

I will never forget the genocidal mania among the Ethiopian intelligentsia. It was a popular genocide, with your “progressive” diaspora falling over themselves to deny and justify it. The least we can do is raise awareness about what has happened and what is about to happen.
