It is so wholesome to see #transmasc people exploiting #homophobic #Transphobic rules designed to keep #trans and #transfemme people out of #MissItaly to prove a point.
Most bigots don't use slurs.
But they will harass you for no reason.
They will disregard your boundaries.
They will sea lion you for info that is easy to find.
They will attempt to insult you but call it a 'joke' and blame you for being 'too sensitive.'
They will invite their friends to dogpile and flood your timeline with nonsense.
They will gaslight and try to make you believe what you're seeing/feeling isn't real.
But most will not use slurs because they know that's what most people are looking for.
Pay attention to behavior. Using slurs is just the tip of the tip of the iceberg when it comes to identifying hateful people.
Crap.
She had a great voice. Sorry we lost her.

There have always been trans folk.

So many things scare me right now.
But chief among them is this feeling that most cis folks who support trans rights lack conviction — while the anti-trans campaigners are full of passionate intensity.
It's pretty easy to see what rough beast is slouching our way.
Just saw someone advocating progressive movements organize on the Fediverse.
BE VERY VERY CAREFUL ABOUT SAYING STUFF LIKE THIS.
-Most fediverse tie-ins are not architected to protect you. For instance, Mastodon Direct Messages are not encrypted and admins can access them.
-Most instances are hosted by ordinary people who don't have the time, knowledge, or resources to fight subpoenas in either criminal or civil actions.
Meet here. Support each other. Cheer each other on. Show solidarity, and elevate and amplify each other.
Organize in much more restricted environments, like end-to-end encrypted messengers like Signal.
@det@hachyderm.io Hi David. Could you explain this photoDNA term that's used in the piece? What are these "unique digital signatures" about? And does photoDNA relate to anime/manga, if at all? Thanks.
Hercules is a tough constellation for me. The stars in it are not super bright, and when one starts looking, it turns out there a lot of vaguely keystone-shaped asterisms up there, from which one's imagination can compose the torso of Hercules.
Happily, there are star maps. And I know that one can draw a line from Sulafat through Sheliak, in the constellation Lyra; and drawing that line outward in a direction away from the constellation Cygnus brings one right to Messier 13, the Great Star Cluster in Hercules, in a location that maps to right above Hercules' right hip in the torso keystone asterism.
But when one is looking down at the star map with a red light, then craning back one's neck to look upward, it all gets rather confused. So last night I tried a different method: I brought out the binoculars (big Oberwerk 12x60 LERs capable of spotting M13), and reclined in a chair, so no longer looking down, then up.
Better result. The Sulafat-Sheliak line took me right to M13, and I was able to work out the torso keystone from there. Still, my neck complained after 20 minutes of this game. Next time I try this I'll bring a blanket out and simply lie on my back.

"To say unprecedented isn't strong enough," Dr Doddridge said.
"For those of you who are interested in statistics, this is a five-sigma event. So it's five standard deviations beyond the mean. Which means that if nothing had changed, we'd expect to see a winter like this about once every 7.5 million years."

@futurebird@sauropods.win Asking the HARD questions here. :blobbonethink:
Hey, US folx? Here's where we're at.
Without IMMEDIATE repercussions, this pretty much puts paid to the idea of the political right and the rule of law. And yeah I know, "it was always blah blah" w/e NO.
What This is is literally an entire state opting out of the norms that keep our country even moderately functional. That is DIFFERENT.
Without even that thin veiled pretension to rule of law, most of you haven't seen the kind of thing that we're in for, in your politically cognizant lifetimes. Alabama republicans needs to be taken to task on this, and SWIFTLY.

@agatha@tech.lgbt The concern is that if the website using the DRM detects that your browser has an ad blocker, it would declare your browser "untrusted," and block your access to the website. I'm sure others will describe the particular process by which this would be done.
