Heute werfen wir den Blick über die Landesgrenze zu unseren Freunden aus GB. Dort wurde 1983 von Libellenkundigen die British Dragonfly Society (BDS) gegründet. Eine große Libelle hängt senkrecht an der rissigen, graubraunen Borke eines Baums. Die Libelle hat blau-grau gefleckte, großen Komplexaugen, eine graubraune Brust mit schmalen, blauen streifen, an der die zwei Paare weit ausgebreiteten, glasklaren, großen Flügel mit schwarzen Flügelmalen inserieren. Der lange, schlange Hinterleib der Libelle ist hellblau und schwarz gemustert.

Passend zur Jahreszeit hier nochmal die Winterlibellen. Ihr Lebenszyklus weicht von dem aller anderen in Deutschland vorkommenden Libellen ab: Sie überwintern erwachsen.

Die Gemeine #Winterlibelle (#Sympecma fusca, Foto 1, m) ist verbreitet. Die Sibirische W. (S. paedisca, Foto 2, w) kommt in D nur noch an wenigen Standorten vor. Unterscheidung im Feld: Bei S. paedisca zeigt ein Bruststreifen eine Ausbuchtung, die bei S. fusca fehlt.
