Welcome summer
Seriously, never put two search boxes anywhere near each other on the same web page... a very confusing user experience.
ok, folks, my old Kindle bit the dust... I am going to get a new one, Do you have any thoughts on the color Kindle? Scribe? or just paperwhite?
@searls I still kind of doubt that... but at this point can't doubt that it will be a large part of many coding workflows.
Claude code is pretty impressive. I have it up and running on a side project I use for learning, and it is much better than the free co-pilot, which seems to fail even pretty simple tasks... Claude code makes some mistakes but is able to put together a reasonable first pass on most little feature enhancements I request while I make dinner and come back to do code review and quick human fixes.
@knittingknots2 I’ve had conversations people here on the platform who were/are apologists for Schumer. I’m not having any of it. People recognize we’re in existential danger and the politics as usual crowd need to get with it or GTFO. Also, I think AOC is killing it and showing real leadership FWiW
@tpitale nice yeah I think if you keep it all in good shape it can keep working.
@chickenwing I guess I will have to look at what festival is...
Seriously how is it no one is making guitar hero or rock band games anymore? I blame the split where they were both just oversaturating the market and imploded... But I wanted to introduce it to my kids and realized there are no games with instruments like that anymore... I am sure there is still a market for it.
another fantastic post by @byroot on pitchfork, but really working with Ruby at scale. https://byroot.github.io/ruby/performance/2025/03/04/the-pitchfork-story.html
Ever have that feeling when you might finally have enough of the details to propose something you have had a feeling about for nearly a year?
Well #FediHire, I'm on the market again! 25 year #Ruby / #Rails (and more!) powerhouse looking for employment. Reached 3rd highest contributor at my last gig despite 200k+ commits, 15+ years, and hundreds of developers. Have ~100 gems w/ ~2 billion downloads. You know me.
Loves: languages / runtimes, profiling & optimization, debugging, testing, OSS, etc.

Ahh it didn't pick up the new image due to caching... It is updated on the site
reposting improving caching with benchmarks and vernier profiler (this time with a profile image and dropping the AI image, since it distracted from the content) https://www.mayerdan.com/ruby/2025/02/10/caches-driving-improvements-via-tooling
@getajobmike oops... I hope this isn't a reaction to my post from a few minutes ago... I get some folks don't like it, but I think some of the AI images are pretty interesting-looking and fun to play with...
How to drive improvements in a gem with tooling... working with benchmarks and profiling to make repeatable performance improvements https://www.mayerdan.com/ruby/2025/02/10/caches-driving-improvements-via-tooling
As I celebrate another Super Bowl by doing silly tech learning things... here is the history of the Super Bowl as told by a time-traveling whale... as imagined by AI writing and illustrating the story.

@jonallured on this could be a good fit
@davetron5000 I did this one and it was great... Might have been from a previous recommendation of yours.
