@NanoRaptor cycling by the river and a crow landed on the bike path in front of me, jumped in my way when i tried to go around so i stopped.

it jumped up and down until i dismounted and followed it to a nearby road where some of it's friends were squawking, all clustered around an endangered species of tortoise that couldn't mount the kerb to get to the river.

picked up the tortoise and walked it to the river, it swam off and the crows happily cawed and then all flew off.

Cooking idea: Take some pastry, blind bake it, add a filling and cover with more pastry, bake. Allow the result to cool then chop up the result finely or pass through a device for such a process.

Occasionally, I want to transcode programs recorded from MythTV to a format for longer-term storage on Plex. One of the things I do with that is to extract the DVB teletext subtitles into a separate file. For years, I've been doing this with -txt_format text assuming that this means "ensure the output is a text file" or something. However, I've also wondered why the subtitles extracted this way lose their colour (used to show when different characters are speaking).

Today, I found that if I specify -txt_format ass, then I get all the styling information included and I can still write this to a SRT file.

No, I'm not going back and re-encoding everything.
