@miah @realhackhistory @spacerog you're giving me flashbacks to this one pumpcon - probably late 90s - where some random guy, who just had the dumb luck of staying at the hotel during the con, somehow barged into my room at like 3am. And he's this HUGE guy in this wife beater and Mad as hell. Takes one look at me and, well, I'm a girl, so looks around the room, eyes land on lbandit who was TOTALLY wasted, and starts demanding that lb "go out in the hall with him" and lb just BURSTS out laughing at him. I don't even remember, somehow things ended up moving out into the hall, shit got broken, I swear I think lb got punched, and the guy went back to his room. Never once did a soul from the hotel come by or say a word.

Ahhh. The good ol days.

In my defense.... When Halo alerts me of an intruder on our land and I go to investigate only to find my back gate wide open (?!) and my security camera disabled (!!!)... BEAR was just not the 1st thing that came to mind.

I mean, disabling the security camera, sure. But when have you ever seen a bear have enough decorum to actually OPEN a gate to walk through it, as opposed to simply crushing whatever happened to be blocking their way and then rambling over it with all the grace of... well, a bear

(Ok, MAYBE... bear plus tripped circuit, but still...)

Was very excited to find Gibson's Bookstore open after 6pm the other day when I was downtown walking Halo. Turned out it was because they had an author reading event going on, but they took pity on me and let me come in and book shop while it was underway.

Also. They sent me this pic they snapped of Halo, who was being so super good and chill, just lying there quietly while I looked at like every new book in the place.

A hummingbird just flew up to me to let me know that my feeder was out of nectar. I will just absolutely never get over the fact that they do that. I mean, to know not only that I am the one that feeds them (which, I've never even noticed one around to witness) but to figure out how to communicate with me. Just completely blows my mind.

When I woke up this morning, I found Halo lying in bed up near the pillows, about a foot away from my head. He usually lies at the other end of the bed near my feet so was super cute to see him so close and I said "I love you, Halo." He looked at me and, without getting up, he literally did the equivalent of an elbow/belly crawl to pull himself close enough to reach me and gave me a kiss on my nose in reply. Dogs are seriously the best.

I have seriously lost all ability to tell satire from reality. All these things seem simultaneously completely ridiculous and totally par for the course.

Halo, who never seems to pay the least tiny bit of attention to anything going on on my laptop.... sound, images, even if I'm on a video call and someone says hi to him, he gives zero indication that he's even heard them

So I'm watching the Poltergeist trailer and, honestly, I had a fan going and the volume was so low on the video that I could barely even hear it myself. but as soon as she says that famous line.... Halo - who's sitting across the deck from me, looking out at the backyard - immediately jumps to attention, starts barking and runs to the door to see who's here.

I swear, that dog is SO much more aware of everything going on then I will ever fully grasp.
