@jamesthebard I've no doubt they'll be fine since the last screw up was AMD getting the spec wrong... but just in case lol.

2025-05-27

@jamesthebard Nice. I'm waiting for them to be in stock on Amazon before I go for two. Minisforum RMAs are a hell I don't wanna deal with directly lol. (Previous trauma)

2025-05-11

@jamesthebard Oh no... this is giving me the mini rack itch...

2025-05-05

@lil5 Yeah. The M1 is absolutely iconic.

@kagihq Of all the services I use, Kagi is definitely the most "mine." I've built my own search experience. It looks great and I haven't seen SEO bait in months.

@koen I've only been a Framework owner for a short while, but I have owned MANY other laptops. This is by far the smoothest Linux experience for me. That said, my HX 370 variant is not good on battery life both in use or on standby. I'm never too far away from an outlet, so that doesn't bother me, but I figured I would mention it.

Eureka! I figured out my sleep issue with the new #Framework 13. It was the SSD!. Accidentally grabbed an older Silicon Power NVMe. Now that the WD SN850X is ACTUALLY installed, it sleeps tight.

I swapped out the Mediatek Wi-Fi card for a Qualcomm NCM865. That's getting me 1700Mbps vs the 600Mbps I was getting, so that's great.

At least this gave me the chance to make a new desktop wallpaper for it. #homelab #framework #linux #fedora

@noodle I was only going to try a firmware upgrade if the array didn't initialize. Since it did, I did not try. I settled on 128K since it handles video. That's worked quite well. Yes, they are over 32K hours.

2025-05-01

@noodle I have 8 of the 15.36TB HPE versions. Other than running hot, they've been working well for the nearly 3 years I've had em. If I remember correctly, they were having problems initializing with hardware RAID controllers, but using an HBA and ZFS meant I never ran into that problem. denfi.me/smolnas

@wyatt Ah that sucks. I waited a few generations to get on board to make sure the early bugs were worked out hoping to avoid something like that. How old was yours?

2025-04-30

@sirber BWAHAHAH! That does line up perfectly.

2025-04-30

@Edent That would be sick! Idk how well it would hold up though. The hinge forces would worry me. Then again, you could just replace it if something happens!

Got my @frameworkcomputer FW13 in. HX 370, 128GB DDR5 5600, 4TB SN580. I'm running @fedora 42 on this one as well. Loving it so far. The build quality is awesome. You usually have to give that up when you want upgradeability, but not here. The transparent black bezel also looks a lot more classy than I was expecting. Glad I went that route. Still some sleep issues to work out, but it's been smooth otherwise. #homelab #fedora #framework #linux #flir

@train I have one of those portable OLEDs on my server rack PC. I feel your pain there. It is do quirky. It further complicates things by being touch screen lol.

2025-04-24

@train I went the mini PC route at work to make the switch there. It's been great in both cases. I had a lot of tinkering to do to to get things just right, but there have been VERY few times I needed to jump over to Windows for something.

2025-04-24

@imnotafeline Incredibly so. I'm not one to notice much over 90hz, but 144Hz is sooooo smooth in KDE Plasma compared to Windows. Especially my beloved wobbly windows lol.

2025-04-24

I did it. I finally ditched Windows as a daily driver. I've switched to @fedora 42 and built a new PC to go along with that endeavor that features an AMD Ryzen 9800X3D and PowerColor Hellhound Radeon RX 9070 XT anothersupersite.com/togami-am #fedora #linux #homelab #sffpc

@kagihq You're either the consumer or the consumed. If it's free, YOU are the product.
