@NadiaBernaz Thank you ❤️
💬 I need your help with this!
If you had the opportunity to address judges in a 15-minute video to talk about business and human rights in a country with only 4 rulings naming UNGPs, how would you do it? 🤓

The UN Working Group on Business and Human Rights just concluded a visit to Argentina. We had constructive and much-needed conversations between civil society organizations, academics, and indigenous people on environmental issues, SLAPPs, workers' conditions, and damage to health caused by agribusiness, mining, and extractive industries.
The preliminary report of the group (in Spanish) can be found at https://www.ohchr.org/es/press-releases/2023/03/argentina-must-uphold-human-rights-protections-business-activities-even-amid
If you want to know more about these Latin American BHRE cases, feel free to check them out in this e-book [Spanish only]. It is the result of a 2-year research project carried out with great colleagues:
@NadiaBernaz thank you again for this space 🥰
In her post for AfronomicsLaw, prof. Paula Almeida explores how notions of Ius Cogens and erga omnes obligations were used by judge Cançado Trindade to expand the protection of the American Convention on Human Rights.
Another must-read.

Our side session has been approved, so we will lead this workshop at the OECD RBC forum next year.
The objective of this workshop is to strengthen technical capabilities and provide tools to ombudsperson's offices and human rights and environmental defenders in the area of responsible business conduct.
organized by the Defensoría del Pueblo de la Nación Argentina (NIHR) @florwegher, Clínica de Direitos Humanos PUCPR (University), and Conectando Derechos (SCO).
#BizHumanRights: I'm happy to share the text (in Spanish) of the amicus brief that our Human Rights Clinic of the HRREC- U.Ottawa, in partnership with different organizations, filed before the Inter-American Court of Human Rights in early September.
This is the first case of the IACtHR focusing on Indigenous Peoples in Voluntary Isolation, whose territory is rich in oil. Decision should be released in early 2023.

[Virtual activity in Spanish] On Friday 25 at 5 pm (GMT-3) we will be with @florwegher and Samantha Singer at the University of Buenos Aires Law School talking about reparations in cases of human rights violations linked to corporate activities.
Hope you can join us!
@Diplomacy @NadiaBernaz I know that this is not the main problem raised, but I would like to take this opportunity to point out that the DEI label always "encourages" people belonging to groups in vulnerable situations without making explicit affirmative action criteria that go against structural inequality.
