📢 The Journal of Open Source Software (JOSS) has been re-evaluated as JUFO 1 in Finland! 🎉

This change makes it easier for researchers in Finland to get credit for their software contributions.

[And 5 years ago...] On May 26th, 2020, the article "Citing software with style", was published by Software Heritage, softwareheritage.org/2020/05/2
And?
And this meant it is now possible to cite source code in a #bibliography, with an id (SWHID) +a style +a software record (BibLaTeX #format with authors, date, version,...) like any kind of document (book, article,...).
And?
And since April 2025, SWHID is an ISO standard, softwareheritage.org/2025/05/1
Thanks & congratulations @swheritage & happy anniversary!

🎉 Happy Birthday SYCL! 🎉

The Khronos Group is celebrating a significant milestone as SYCL marks its tenth anniversary. First ratified and published in May 2015, SYCL has grown from an ambitious specification to a cornerstone of heterogeneous computing, enabling developers to write single-source C++ code for a wide range of accelerators, including CPUs, GPUs, FPGAs, and specialized AI hardware.

"At first, I tried applying a widely-cited AI method called PINN to some fairly simple PDEs, but found it to be unexpectedly brittle. Later, though dozens of papers had claimed that AI methods could solve PDEs faster than standard numerical methods—in some cases as much as a million times faster—I discovered that a large majority of these comparisons were unfair."

@Voka @Linux I used Linux for 10+ years on my work devices and still use it on my personal device. I think people should use Linux just to clarify but we should keep there expectations right and tell them upfront not all will be a piece of cake and some things require work and help from the community.

@Linux You should mention some. caveats too. Many software will not work and there is not any adequate replacement. Have fun open some form generated with Adobe Reader or open a Word document. Try to play games and so on.

Here are all the posters I designed for RustWeek 2025!

1. "Box<impl Future>" (Back tot the Future):

The "Back to the Future" movie poster, but with the title replaced by "Box<impl Future>". On top it says "1.21 gigabytes". The license plate of the DeLorean reads "enomem".
