@soatok Hi! I found your blog via the dreaded orange site. I’m a lifelong biochemistry (well, more biophysics) and computer science nerd. I grew up playing a lot of video games (Final Fantasy ❤️) and wanted to be a game developer until I encountered OpenGL, which scared me away. Instead, I studied “computational biochemistry” which lead to a masters in “theoretical chemistry.”

I have been obsessed with the question of the origin of life for a long time; the seemingly paradoxical fact that living things (cells) are made of non-living carbon atoms. In my free time I worry a lot about determinism and free choice, because all (macro scale) chemical phenomena are completely deterministic, which must by definition include all of life! (And no, quantum mechanics does not help. A die doesn’t get to choose which side it lands on)

I’m also a gay bear. In a throuple. I got into furry via the bear -> puppies -> furry pipeline. My first furcon I went to had a computer science lecture, and I’ve been hooked ever since!
