Web developer & writer. I really, *really* like blogs.
"A Dream for the Web" was shared today in the #powRSS feed.
"I dream of a web that’s small and strange and wonderful. Where personal websites grow like gardens – each one unique, crafted by hand, reflecting the beautiful weirdness of its creator. Where the web feels big because it’s made of small, individual voices."
@eclecticpassions definitely sans-serif for body text!
Attaching a quote I loved from The Jolly Teapot blog about this recently:
I miss this era of UI design so much </3
The name “Bar Nothing” for a ranch is sooo cool
A few pics from the other day 📍
@klymilark check out https://powrss.com
I started it last week so it's only got ~170 feeds but everyday there's new submissions.
Alternatively check out @powRSS here on Mastodon if you just want sporadic updates about new posts or who joins the aggregator!
The point of teaching is not to transfer knowledge or skills.
The point of teaching is to help someone see something in a new light so that they can discover ten thousand new questions for themselves that once shared, spark new insights in others as well.
This is how knowledge is formed.
Simply transferring knowledge and skills is training, not teaching.
Nothing wrong with that but deeply dehumanizing to not know or value the difference.
@ratika "with the heat increasing every year, will we eventually become a nocturnal society, staying inside during the hot daytime and coming out to work and play and do daytime things in the dark, when the heat won’t be as bad?"
That's exactly what it's like to live in Las Vegas. Our summers are 40°C - 45°C, so most leisurely stuff gets done at night. During the day it's a quick trip to the grocery store or the bank and then back to AC indoors.

I learnt so much about RSS and how they're generated in Hugo while writing this post. Rekindled my love for it all these years!
It was so nice to get the feed just right; no more errors! haha it satisfies my OCD tendencies 😜

"The Strange Rhythm of Loving Books" was shared today in the #powRSS feed.
"One morning this week, I woke up and looked to my left, at a book that lies there on my nightstand. A book I bought—well, it must have been months ago now, on a drizzly Saturday afternoon in my local bookstore. A book I intended to read pretty soon, but never did."
@prex thank you for checking out the site!
And yes you can suggest your own site and favorite blogger too. powRSS is a public feed aggregator, kind of like a “here’s what I’m writing and also here is what I’m reading” place, and it gets shared on the open web via RSS feeds.
Feel free to submit your own blog or someone you enjoy reading!
@voxel You might enjoy https://powrss.com
@ori We have some superb blogs at https://powrss.com
Hope you find some interesting ones there!
@xuxxux pasting from a similar reply I left earlier:
There are 150+ feeds that update daily!
I could provide a "digest" RSS feed for top posts each day. I just don't want to clutter people's feed readers.
As a happy medium I added the RSS feed of each site, which you can subscribe to individually.
What would you like to see? I'm happy to implement one, I'm just afraid it might be overwhelming.
If you have suggestions I'm all ears!
There's also @powRSS here on Mastodon
@halfbyte thanks for checking out the site Jan!
The RSS feed to every site has been added next to each post. Thank you for the feedback!
I'm not sure if instead you mean one RSS feed for all posts, but there are now 150+ feeds that update daily and counting.

@ClaireFromClare Many have asked for an RSS feed for the entire site but there are 150+ feeds that update daily!

"Best Experienced With: MTV.com and the 90s Browser War" was shared today in the #powRSS feed.
@scott hi Scott this is a great resource, thank you for making it! I’m away from my workstation so I can’t open an issue on the repo rn but I’d love to suggest https://powrss.com
It’s a public feed aggregator for indieweb blogs and sites. Thanks!
@bojidar_bg Yes that was a bit of a sketch for parsing feeds, only similarity remaining is the name! 😅
And yes that's the goal!! I'm working on packaging it up as a Ruby gem
