Erebus

Terrestrial fluids are my thing. Else, I wander the desert or play #boardgames - especially euro games.

@tasthesose Wow! I had these. You brought back a very distant memory. Thanks for sharing.

@Uniflame what game is that?

2023-09-24

@boardgamebreakdown Moving is so stressful. Hope it goes as smoothly as possible!

@gilhova That review is spot on. The complete lack of a story or events make the artwork and theme so very disappointing. I’d probably like it better if it was a farming game with bland artwork.

@emmahunneyball cat wall is impenetrable.

@boardgamebreakdown That is really impressive. Well done!

@grannyweatherwax @dpunked Same here! I’ve been soloing Spirit Island with Branch and Claw. I’m using everything except scenarios. I had avoided the game for a long time given how much I visually disliked the game. Big mistake on my end. I should know better. I’ve yet to see or play an Uwe Rosenberg that looked the least big attractive (my opinion, obviously) but I’ve liked all of them.

@rockymountainnavy Nice review. This game was “full shutup and take my money”. Sadly (for me) it feels like an abstract game stapled on the Scythe Universe. I played it a few times, the week my Ironclad version arrived, and then I haven’t taken it back out. Your review gave me reason to pull it back out. Once, I finally get board of #SpiritIsland that is.

@Mollarom Glad you liked it. You don’t have to be agressive at all but you have to be prepared for someone that is. However, even with factions that lend themselves to militaristic play styles (Saxony and Albion) don’t have to be played that way to be effective.

@Sobtanian If I’m doing too well in a solo game, I almost always figure out that I was making a huge mistake.

2023-08-12

@inanedirk I love Scythe. I have Expeditions and have a played it a few times but haven’t developed much of an appreciation for it. That’s a long way of saying that the two aren’t that similar and whether or not you like Scythe is probably independent of whether or not you’d like Expeditions.

@dpunked Last week was mostly vacation time. We played #Hanabi and #SushiGo and #DeepSeaAdventure and #LoveLetter - we even played under the tent vestibule while it was raining. This weekend I got in a game of #TwilightInscription and #SprirtIsland.

@Robbydigital @TipRing @dpunked Wild. I absolutely love Scythe. Different strokes for different folks, for sure.

@dpunked My gaming group lives by Terraforming Mars. I’ll play it but I just can’t get into it. I strongly prefer Ares Expedition, but they don’t. #firstworldproblems

@boardgamebreakdown That’s awesome! I let mis niños pick out a game today. We played Peek-a-mouse and they had a great time.

@errantscience This cuts deep.

2023-07-23

@Eamon1916 So very disappointing.

2023-07-23

@yashima Thank you so much for the detailed and thoughtful response! I love the concept of the game and generally like co-op games, even if you play them 2-handed as the solo mode. I may head to the local store to see if they have the base game and/or expansions.

2023-07-23

@wolvster To their credit, Stonemeier includes seperate estimates for setup time. However, their estimate of 10 minutes for Scythe is either based on the theory of relativity or involved getting help from a Formula 1 pit crew.

2023-07-23

@yashima I seem to recall comments that the solo mode in the base game isn’t that great. Did you play with any expansions?
