Michael Twyman obituary by Sue Walker in The Guardian: https://www.theguardian.com/artanddesign/2025/dec/02/michael-twyman-obituary
Hey All! We @ohno just released Montreuil with @boogypaper! It's really hard to show off the Play style on our site, but it's a cool one! It's based on the style of lettering Julien developed for his Montreuil poster series (https://www.behance.net/gallery/9406075/Montreuil-Typeface) with a few changes.
1/2 Hello from Ukraine. I’m still alive, haha. Happy to be at home. At night, missiles and drones hit as russians try to wipe out everything Ukrainian. By day, I work on brand identities and lectures. We often lose power and sit in darkness, because along with homes and civilian infrastructure, russians are destroying power plants, so we can be without electricity for hours. You’re lucky if you manage to wash, cook, and charge devices in time. Otherwise, you just wait for the power to come back.
There are moments in life when you meet the right people at the right time. Meeting James Mosley and Michael Twyman in 2007 at the University of Reading confirmed me in the path I continue to follow today. Their work and their writings will always guide me.
RIP Michael Twyman 1934–2025

@rosetta Heatbreaking news in a heartbreaking year…
@typographica @klim A monograph is planned for publication in 2027.
New release from Sandrine Nugue: Delusse, a spiky-soft response to Vendôme, one of the most iconic French typefaces of the twentieth century.
Kudos to @litherland who wrote the excellent presentation for the @commercial newsletter.
Every time @SandrineNugue has a new typeface released, I can’t help myself but share the news. Just look for yourself: https://commercialtype.com/catalog/delusse

Too many people to talk to, to see the exhibition… we’ll be back.
@TypeMedia Hey Fediverse! You can help by boosting the above message far and wide. Thirteen (count them) projects by 13 amazing TM alumni. A very responsive and dynamic gallery, showing the bleeding edge of contemporary typedesign. “Fuff!” you will say! “You would say that!” Well of course I say that. We had these young colleagues in the studio, we’ve seen how they work, you should hire them. That is what I say. #typemedia #typedesign #tm2324 https://2024.typemedia.org

Coming soon, at last!

@litherland Our true life achievement…
@litherland He could have succumbed to the vanity of writing a history of Western typography (he had the means and resources to do so), but he preferred the peace and quiet of his perpetual projects. Gathering and editing his writings will be a daunting task!
@litherland The Journal of the Printing Historical Society, New Series 23, commemorating the eightieth birthday of James in 2015 (his founding editor), gathered a few essential posts from his blog.
James, who had a paradoxical phobia of print publication, fearing he would leave an error in it, greatly appreciated the flexibility and ability to perfect his writing online.
