I made a digital sketch of a sleeping wizard for an oil painting. :D

An old wizard with silver hair and long silver beard, wearing a blue pointy hat and cloak with golden moons and stars leaning against the left edge of the painting, sleeping. He’s also wearing tiny golden glasses which are slipping down his nose.

Collecting #art as a not-rich person is insanely difficult. The pieces that are available and which I can afford, I do not like. The pieces which I like, are either not available, or unaffordable to me if they are.

For years, I have wanted to get into #collecting; I haven’t yet bought a single piece of art.

My grandpa gave me his old art supplies because he no longer paints. Among them were some soft pastels. I’ve never used them before, so I decided to give it a shot by painting budgies! :D
I’ll gift them to my grandpa as a thank you. He has an aviary with budgies. :)

I‘ve just remembered: Mastodon exists and I‘m on it!
Perfect timing as well, as I‘ve made something I thought I could share. I‘ve started making a Catan board for myself and here‘s what I‘ve got so far.

The tiles are made from pine plywood, cut out by hand, and then painted with acrylic paint.

@nickbwalking I’ve read the first book and have the second one on my bought-but-not-yet-read list.

The first one is definitely among my favourite sci-fi stories. I’ll have to reread it before I start with the second one, but I’m very excited. :D

@InSearchOf as a biology student, the upper one looks precisely like the annelid-drawing we had to make in our “animal morphology and evolution” class. (Except a lot better and in watercolour instead of pencil)

@DreamGryphon I don’t think it’s really a matter of how the other people react to it, but simply of how these platforms work (especially on the conventional sites like Instagram, Twitter, etc.).

Here it’s a lot better, because there is no “biased” algorithm that wants to maximise your time spent in front of ads, but still it isn’t easy to appear in other people’s feed in the first place.

Sometimes, when posting art on The Social Media™ and it not getting any attention, it’s easy to feel bad about it or about yourself and makes you want to stop pursuing it.

But IMO, if there’s a single person on this planet who likes it, even or rather especially if that person is you, it is worth doing art.
