I wake up happy ...

Listening to a lot of 70s music last night and came across again this gem. I Feel Love sung by Donna Summer and written by Giorgio Moroder & Pete Bellotte is a classic. Actually its more than that: it defined the end of one era and the shape of music to come (as recognised by Brian Eno). The combination of the natural purity of the Moog analogue synthesizer and Donna's vocals is just extraordinary. Classic. Enjoy

Have things moved on with zero-gravity recycling bins on the space stations with regular runs to space-tips in specially adapted re-entry vehicles? I hope so. Though it must be said that having the extraordinary shooting star light-shows back in the day were entertaining.

... At the time we suspected, wondered if the shooting stars at that time werent in fact a natural phenomena but could be materials, artefacts or just plain and simple rubbish which had fallen to earth from the space missions of that time. Were the more spectacular shooting stars in reality junk being "buried at space" by chucking it out of a porthole or even more concerning did they have direct flush toilets as per trains? *grimace*

It was a lovely mild starry evening last night; so as per a decades long habit I spent a pleasant hour in the garden watching for shooting stars and satellites. Many, almost too many satellites, yet literally no shooting stars. Curious.

Around the 2000 the situation was reversed: plenty of exceptionally bright shooting stars with just a few satellites. Indeed, some of the shooting stars were so bright they lit up the clouds as they passed overhead & even appeared to be burning or breaking up.

An interesting local (to me) tradition for Good Friday. Would like to see it resumed ...

@bfuhrman I guess that time - as you say - is the key to adapting to altitude. Cyclists spend several weeks at altitude camps before they compete in the big tours. The best part about walking in austria for me was that there were many alpine "huts" on the top of the mountains where you could stay and get food and drink. Good company and then downhill the next morning which makes it easier to get started ,,, 😀

@bfuhrman Interesting. I knew from watching tour de france and vuelta that people feel weak at altitude but never made the connection with baking. I've only once been once around a mile of elevation walking in austria, where i felt tired, but then i thought it was just down to lack of fitness!

@bfuhrman That's interesting. I live literally at sea level so it's not an issue for me, but who knows I may go to live on a mountain sometime. You've inspired me to be a bit more adventurous in my bread making, thanks! 😀

Made espresso brownies today to use up some eggs… and also because, brownies (also, bread). Didn’t have coffee liquor, so I subbed brandy. My apartment smells pretty amazing…

Brownies and two loaves of multigrain bread with raisins and cashews, fresh from the oven.

@bfuhrman Excellent experimentation - or is it your usual? I make my own bread but don't go much beyond adding a few seeds.
