You know how Mastodon skews older and tech-savvy? Well, I'm a Software Engineer who still thinks the 90s were just a couple of years ago :)

For today's #TuneTuesday @JillsJoy invites us to go for a #SpaceWalk with songs about space.
This clip, containing a walk in space, immediately came to me

Today's #TuneTuesday invites us to go for a #SpaceWalk with songs about space ๐
The FIRST song that immediately came to mind was the theme song to the 1980 flick, 'FLASH GORDON' and how epic and dramatic that song is.
'FLASH !! AH AHHHH !!
SAVIOR OF THE UNIVERSE !!' ๐ถ
Someone snuck a Tuesday in while we weren't looking ๐

:BoostOK: I'm a software developer in the EU, desperately looking for work.
I've been writing software for 12 years (6 years professionally), focusing mainly on backend/systems/embedded, but have some experience with pretty much everything.
If you're hiring or know a place that might be a good fit, please dm/reply on here, or send a mail to work@julialuna.dev
@crispy For me, that was the point I got into #GlassCannon :)

I've been programming for 36 years, more than 3/4 of my life. It's always a little surprising how much I still absolutely love it. Obviously, the context in which I program can sometimes suck the joy out of itโit's not all roses.
But when I get to sit down and type a bunch of letters to make a computer do a thing, it still fills me with delight. If I won the lottery and retired today, I'd probably still spend much of my time puttering around in codebases.
Oh, but they need to re-write the whole project in a different language because the new language is more common on GitHub so the LLM will do better. But that's no problem, since the LLM is writing the whole thing anyway.
Dude's furious. I managed to make empathetic noises while hiding my Schadenfreude.
No need for unit tests, of course, because the same "AI" that writes the code will write the tests. And why bother with coding style or architecture guidelines? The LLM is trained on all the code in GitHub, so naturally it's already "trained on all the best practices".
