@Schneems big congrats, I know you’ve been working at that for years!

@Schneems big congrats, I know you’ve been working at that for years!
Redis 8.0 is now AGPL. Interesting.
My Faktory project is AGPL also, for the same reasons.
@nemith Do you have an example?
@robotdeathsquad I’ve had no problem and they seem to be actively maintaining and improving it. VC funding makes me trust RedisCorp less.
@jan Code dependencies in go.mod must have a tag/sha. But I don't want to release a new tag until CI has run.
Local dev can use "replace" or go.work to override go.mod entries but those features are not designed to work on other machines (e.g. CI).
AFAICT there is no clean way to CI multiple Go repositories “main" branch together. All dependencies need to be tagged to a fixed version. go.work and "replace" are for local dev, not CI.
I assume this is a restriction due to Google’s giant Go cache service.
So frustrating. #golang
@nateberkopec all children are above average and all jobs deserve to go in the critical queue. 😂
Honeybadger proves what a small, scrappy Rails team can achieve: a profitable, developer-first company WITHOUT VC funding. 💫
Their story demonstrates the power of Rails, developer happiness, and community.
You can catch the Honeybadger team at #RailsConf 2025 in Philly this summer, where they’ll be sponsoring and celebrating with the community that helped them get started! 💙 https://rubycentral.org/news/company-spotlight-how-honeybadger-built-a-profitable-bootstrapped-business-on-rails/
@davetron5000 I suspect those companies have decided that in a mature market, it’s more profitable to gatekeep and milk existing customers. New user verification and onboarding is a cost center to be cut.
I need to be very clear, that the push towards "vibe coding" - that is, deliberately deskilling people - is because AI code assistants are an (increasingly expensive) subscription service.
If you know how to code, you can just write Python, C, Java, R, PHP, whatever for free and make things. You may not own the tools of production, but at least you're not renting them.
If you have been deskilled so you only know how to vibe code, you will be paying for that privilege forever.
This also goes, by the way, for researchers who are starting to be convinced they don't need to learn how to be scientists anymore, because "the AI" can just do the science for them. Nope.
For me, this is the best image symbolizing what Gen AI actually is. A black box, burning the planet, understood best, paradoxically, through technological means.
What you see here is a thermal image of xAI's Datacenter in Memphis, where 33 methane power generators are burning without permission.

@davetron5000 @mcphat it might help with unit testing process-global state? but that’s me really looking for a use case.
Loading two different versions of the same gem in the same process sounds like a terrible idea.
Sidekiq Enterprise 8.0.1 can now pause, unpause and manually enqueue periodic jobs. This has been a long-requested feature so I'm happy to finally ship it!

It's the last RailsConf because we're all switching to Hanami.
tl;dr: 25% of students enrolled in California community colleges are reportedly AI bots set up to commit financial aid fraud. Probably this time next year it will be 40-50 percent.
What comes after YJIT?

Holy shit the details of this story about #DOGE taking over the #NLRB's systems are nuts.
1. Demanded full control of NLRB's #Azure cloud
2. Disabled logs and network monitoring
3. MFA turned off
4. Russian login attempts with valid (new) credentials
5. 10 GB exfiltrated from #NxGen, the NLRB's legal case database

"Gang members don't deserve due process. I'm glad they're being deported actually."
Ok. You're a gang member. Come with me.
"No I'm not??"
And how are you going to prove that without due process, champ?
I corrected a customer's math error and wrote out the correct equation. macOS multiplied it wrong. The actual value should be 3700 but it's including the 2 at the end of the sentence?
"So you'd multiple your number by 2. (50 * 37 * 2) =7,400”
What's the point of a feature if you have to double check its work and do the calculation anyways?
🛑 It’s official: Cybersecurity CVE funding has expired.
The U.S. government let MITRE’s contract lapse — and with it, the core of our global cybersecurity vulnerability tracking ecosystem.
This means:
📛 No new CVE IDs
🧩 Disruptions across patch workflows
🔄 Coordination breakdowns for defenders worldwide
⚠️ Increased time-to-response across industries
Every org that relies on coordinated disclosure is now flying with one engine. This isn’t a future risk — it’s a present emergency.
