This was the first trial project I used 10x editor by @stewartlynch8. After a few hours of working with the editor, I felt that I need this in my life, so I became a paid subscriber way before v1.0 versions.

I really don't plug software often, but I'm very satisfied with this particular one, so I'm plugging for it: 10xeditor.com. Working "go to definition" and lightning fast search across all files should be standard for all editors, but isn't. Well worth the asking price!

Back from 68k inside demo party, had a blast! We (myself, @dma_sc, TiNKer and the rest of the team) competed in the wild compo with the Jaguar version of Adam Is me, and ranked first!

Links added to pouet.net/prod.php?which=94605 and demozoo.org/productions/325838

Also you can watch the stream of the party where I attempted to explain the game to the crowd: youtu.be/XxQUFxENc7A?t=3228

Have fun!

@loke Are you sure you're not on xkcd universe? xkcd.com/1172/

But sure, that sounds like something might not be making good contact and it's alternating between "charging" and "not charging" as others said.

@modula Hope everything's ok first of all. Secondly, I'm about to watch this: youtube.com/watch?v=d4XHvktcw-

@tattlemuss Hopefully it won't turn into Vile Coding

I've watched this several times and laughed harder each time.

Have no idea what either is saying but it's hilarious!

@burgerbecky For a good time, "git clone --recurse-submodules github.com/ggnkua/Atari_ST_Sou"

There's a good chunk of actual game source code in there!

@questor If people keep suggesting things, I fear that an follow up is invevitable!

(when this will happen is another question, I kept meaning to write this from the start of the year but kept putting it off. Only when I mentioned to a friend and him expressing enthusiasm did I find the strength to do it!)

@gunstick @zerkman TOS source says this about determining free RAM block

@questor I wrote that comment fully knowing that I'd be the only person to use that routine - you can't go wrong with some self deprecating humour!

Good point about .w addressing. I'm pretty sure I've forgotten/omitted a good deal of tricks. Initially the article was about just that allocator routine I used for Tony, but then it grew in scope from there. Perhaps there could be a follow up article with more ideas! (See @zerkman's reply above about stack for example)

@zerkman follow up articles welcome :)

Not sure why I sat down and wrote so much stuff about memory on #AtariST, but here we are: beyondbrown.mooo.com/post/ram_

@gilesgoat 2025 year of Linux Desktop, finally!

@gilesgoat There are way too many esoteric switches in gnu ld that let you replace libc or even the startup code. If the linker mixed the objects around it would have been too confusing. (I guess)

@tattlemuss There are ideas for this
