@donutage I feel you and I agree. But I *want* to believe in the idealism and *real* patriotism I felt as a little kid in the 70s. 🇺🇸✌️🍻

Am I trippin or did Al Roker just say that Ringo’s first solo album is one of the greatest album covers of all time?
@roadside Did he owe Jabba money?

Also: Beach Boys music works as good kids music (i.e., not annoying) for all you new parents out there.
Hilarious to hear the national news coverage of Brian Wilson’s death using songs with Mike Love’s lead vocals. Come on.
My kid could identify Brian vs. Mike songs when he was FIVE years old. (It was a fun party trick.)
@ErickaSimone Carl sang like an angel too. Damn.
Carl Wilson, Lead Vocal

One of the first moments where music made me feel an indescribable euphoria. I will never forget. Thank you Mr. Wilson.

I don’t think this would happen to me. I’m pretty sure the bison want me to ride them. They’ve telepathically communicated that message to me before but my wife made me get back in the car.
I actually prefer the album version with Carl on lead vocals but there’s something wonderful about Brian’s 1967 solo demo of “Surf’s Up” (lyrics by the great Van Dyke Parks).
My favorite Brian Wilson cover is this live Golden Smog version of “Love and Mercy” originally released on the “Until You Came Along” promo single.
Brian Wilson and Sly Stone were both 82. What an impact these two giants had on the world! It’s impossible to imagine what music would sound like today without the two of them.
I’m happy Brian Wilson was able to finish Smile to his satisfaction. That box set is a treasure. And, really, all of the Beach Boys stuff is great. The early stuff is as idealistically American as the Declaration of Independence.
Eat a bowl of cereal with Half & Half in tribute to the legend.
