@ChaHarper Makes me want to build a hobbit house…
Husband, father, papa. Chief Financial Officer and CPA by profession. Love to read history, historical fiction, Tolkien and Herbert. The outdoors is calling…
Profile photo: my jean clad legs and bright orange athletic shoes with the River Seine in Paris in the background.
Banner: brown, old parchment looking ceiling in my library where I am hand drawing a combined map of Middle Earth from the First and Third Ages. This portion is Dorthonion, in the north of Beleriand.
@ChaHarper Makes me want to build a hobbit house…
Mist though the archway. Photo taken from St Michael's tower on Glastonbury Tor this morning
Golden sunrise with mists of Avalon below. A perfect start to the day on Glastonbury Tor.
Watching the footage from the hundreds of #nokings marches around the country today gives me hope we can pull this country back from fascism after all, but boy this is going to take a lot of dedicated, focused work.
@_elena I would rather the public media keep ignoring the Fediverse, thank you very much
This is something I've *definitely* noticed that the right no longer understands.

@sundogplanets And for that, we thank you!
@tubemapper I recognize that station! While on holiday in London that station was our base for train trips elsewhere in the city and beyond. Here is a favorite photo I took on a Sunday morning.
@Sheril Howdy! I am currently reading Henry V by Dan Jones. I have Pachinko, but haven’t read it yet. Maybe soon…
@clarebee After the November elections in the US I calmly deleted the news app on my phone and no longer follow the news. I doubt the world is calmer, but I am and am much more at peace. Not taking it personally is hard, but not impossible.
Good article on “Ghost Hurricanes”. Each season many post model runs showing potential storms impacting areas for click bait. After a few updated runs, the storm is gone. Models are always changing. Do not buy into the hype, trust your meteorologists. https://amp.cnn.com/cnn/2025/06/05/weather/hurricane-ghost-storm-forecast-climate
For a while now, whenever I read or watch news pieces and pundit discussions about “the economy” I always think of this…
@North It’s always been standard behavior for me in art galleries to assure the wardens that I am not going to touch the Van Gogh, which you could totally touch in the d’Orsay. Assures me too.
Enlightenment. This morning on Glastonbury Tor.
@druid Sounds like you’re talking about the US.
@gparenti As doge has fired about one third of the IRS auditors recently, I wouldn’t be worried (from a CPA of 35+ years).
@opalmirror I’m sure they were disappointed to find the larder empty.
First day back in the studio with
@tomheap.bsky.social
for a new series of Rare Earth! This week we're looking at insects (including whether entomologists ever swat flies away & some very weird things about aphids).
Listen this Friday or on BBC Sounds afterwards:
