Igor

I'm going to leave the Isle soon. I've got a new, exciting job in Cambridge in Monumo, a company that develops electric motors for cars. I've already started - remotely for now - but the plan is to work in the office half of the time (it's surely nice to meet people after 3 years of remote working). I'm going to miss the landscapes of IoW. I'm not going to miss the ferries with their ticket prices and cancelled sailings

For an Old Year Resolution, I finally put together my photo gallery. Photos from the Isle of Wight included: photo.too-many-machines.com/uk

Me, when buying car on the Isle: why I can't find any normal estate car, only SUVs? I don't need high clearance and AWD.
Also me, after a few days of rain: oh, now I see

@RobeeShepherd we went there at the lowest tide (0.4m) and were able to get there without getting our feet wet. Half an hour later the water was ankle deep. It's only a few minutes from the beach, so no risk of getting cut off by the tide, worst case you have to wade

I visited the caves at Freshwater Bay for the first time. Combination of very low tide, sunset, no waves and relatively warm water - perfect opportunity

@cleatsandcode incidentally, I just bought a new bicycle for my daughter and it turned out the fork was bent. So it was either return or repair it myself. I didn't feel like disassembling and packing it back, so...

@cleatsandcode I hope you get well (damn, I'm lost for words in such situations even in my own language)

@cleatsandcode I live on the island but I work until 6pm, and now it's getting dark around 7

@cleatsandcode I was thinking about Newtown, but maybe you know a better place? But I'm just checking the weather and it's going to be windy tomorrow

@cleatsandcode Hi, wanna meet for SUP tomorrow?

@cleatsandcode no, it was closed. Just the outside

@Felna I didn't know that! I think I've never read Moonraker. Only read a few Bond novels, I prefer the movies. Guess I'll read this one

Few days ago I discovered there was a rocket testing site on the Isle. Of course I had to see it. It looks awesome, if I were a Bond supervillain I'd choose this place for my HQ

@cleatsandcode cool, I'd love to try

@RobeeShepherd many times I thought there's no point going outside, too many clouds. And then next day I saw other people photos and read their posts about great conditions

@cleatsandcode what's that?

Freshwater Bay last night. Why didn't I try #astrophotography on #iow before? It's a great place with low light polution and clean air

@cleatsandcode I'm away from the Isle now, but I'd me more than happy when I get back. Maybe we'll have more luck with the weather in September

Some of the animals I saw near Newtown @wildchiswick @matthewchatfield

@wildchiswick I'm kinda new to IoW so someone might recommend a better place, but I saw a lot of wildlife near Newtown. There's estuary, forest and meadows (no town though, just a tiny village), which means a lot of diversity. Some areas are a reserve and you're only allowed to walk on paths, animals seem to understand it - sometimes the birds sat a few meters from the path and didn't care about people walking by
