Yeah, I've created custom feeds on there, out of necessity as an alternative to the main feed firehose (e.g. feeds with people I know IRL, some subject-focussed ones, etc.) but stackable moderation is a bust for me - too many lists compromised/can't be trusted, in terms of being gamed/abused.

And moderation generally is not as advertised, as the Link/Blacksky situation last year seemed to show.

Happy here for the long run. I don't need to talk to the world, just some good folks.

Sorry, I had to ask Bertie B to pull over for a minute so I could respond to this, as the suspension on the sidecar is less than optimal and I keep mis-typing as I get bounced around.

Do you ever feel like you missed your calling, and were meant to be touring the countryside in a motorcycle & sidecar with your well dressed badger best friend, solving minor mysteries and enjoying tea & adventure?

I think Bluesky will be around for a while yet.

I am on there as well as here, and have some good conversations and mutuals there (some of who also crossover to here) but I think where it will shrink or become less relevant to me personally is because of dubious decisions and changes (and moderation decisions) by their management.

Culturally I see Bluesky as very "what you make it", rather than one vibe, a bit like here. My experience is very different to some friends, etc.

Suspect you're right; it'll possibly never be "the" place to be (and I'm not sure that would be a good thing anyway) but it's here for the long haul, because people are personally invested in it as a space, and the possibility of commercial interests screwing it up are infinitely lower.

True, and heh, that's how I think of most Doctors' tenures - they all get some great ones, but none of them escape a few duds!

Capaldi has ended ups being my youngest's answer to the question of who is "their" Doctor (in the same way that mine will always be Tom Baker - a combo of timing and age, I guess, but also interesting cos he'd seen a bit of Tennant and Smith first, but Capaldi was "his" from the start, and he liked the mix of quirky and snark/grumpy older person.

I really should rewatch the Capaldi run at some stage.

One of my oldest/closest friends moved back to the Perth from which they originated, and sometimes it’s awkward to have to point out during long phone chats that it’s now 2am in Melbourne and I have to work in the already-morning…

As a lover of good I'm a big fan of Carbon Based Lifeforms, and of Sync24, the solo offshoot by CBL's Daniel Vadestrid.

Sync24's 2018 album 'Omnious' has hundreds of plays racked up here, and I expect 'Hope', my first purchase for the month, will be another keeper. 😎

Yeah, or possibly "birds of a feather"?

(Again, being generous, but really otherwise I'm having trouble making the "'pot, kettle" post make any sense at all, in that context.) πŸ€” πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ
