I do agree with him that any invasion of Greenland would be unethical.

I am not an expert by any means, but I'm pretty sure what he is asking servicemembers to do is unlawful.
In any case, the law is a lot more nuanced.
By giving bad advice, he is actively endangering service members, who can face severe punishments for disobeying an order (which are harsher in wartime).
What he should have said is that servicemembers who are worried about unlawful orders should talk to a lawyer, so they are prepared should they receive such an order.
I think it is problematic for non-lawyers to be commenting on if US troops should disobey orders.
There is a standard for when a servicemember can and should disobey an order. It is a high bar and the member's own morals have nothing to do with it.
There are lawyers outside the military who have expertise in military law who are providing advice to servicemembers on what orders to obey, and a lot of servicemembers have sought council from them relating to recent issues.

These are good pieces on the alleged U.S. cyberattack against the Venezuelan power grid. It seems that for now the skepticism is warranted until we get more details and some independent confirmation from threat intelligence/infrastrucure researchers.

@trabern Anna Bower at Lawfare thinks, and I agree with her, that this is supposed to mean the *state government* has ordered its law enforcement to stand down and stop making arrests, supposedly allowing violent criminals and rioters to roam uncontrolled.
None of what he said is true, but I guess it makes sense in whatever la la land Stephen Miller lives in.

Doesn't change the problems with Federal cops enforcing state law, but I don't think Miller cares.

Lang is a horrible guy, but she did the right thing saving him from getting beaten up.
Maybe Lang will realize the error in his ways after being saved by the people he demonizes, but I doubt it. It is far to easy to brush off and move on, or write them off as "a few of the good ones".

@cps If I'm reading the right law, it also does this:
> The department shall assign an offender to a facility or program that is based on the offender's biological sex, as defined by IC 1-1-4-5(a)(25), at birth
I'm all for political debate.
But this isn't a question of political debate. It is a question of basic human rights and decency, and those aren't up for debate.
Any state representative/senator - Democrat or Republican - who votes to declare that trans people don't exist should be voted out next election cycle.
No exceptions.
My state has been attacking trans people for years; so has Indiana. And yet they keep getting reelected.
#Trans Hoosiers need your help!
SB182 would permanently ban ALL transgender people in #Indiana from obtaining the safety and privacy of updated identification.
Instead of scapegoating innocent people, lawmakers should spend the limited time available in session this year on real issues like the affordability crisis.
Please take action - it only takes 30 seconds to let your lawmakers know you oppose this extreme measure: https://secure.ngpvan.com/AoFs40QqfUKYvXU-LWxCug2

Bluesky has plenty of problems, but allowing ICE on their platform isn't one of them.

Poorly written anti-abortion laws are leading to pregnant people losing access to necessary, and sometimes lifesaving, healthcare.

In any sane world, the idea that pregnant people should be able to get lifesaving health care would be uncontroversial. I'm sure no anti-abortion activist would say they *want* people to die, but if they cared, they would be doing something about this, rather than making it worse.
