@jaredwhite do you know any good alternatives?

@searls industry is reinventing all the time

@balticruby I feel you. Each year it is harder and harder to find any company that wants to help. And the bigger the companies are, the harder it is. There are already great conferences that gave up and disappeared from the map because of that. And the worst is that most companies simply ghost you, they don't even bother to say "no". In the best case, they respond once: "will see".

Familiar with `user.admin?` checks or gems like Pundit or CanCanCan?

It's time for a more robust approach for complex systems 🧠. @yatish27 will present a tuple-based authorization model within Rails - an approach used by Google and other large-scale apps.

Don't miss it!

Insulting the Ukrainian people from the Oval Office made me think of this post again. Imagine if that was your family in the basement - wondering if the next minute a bomb will drop and end it for everyone you love?

Anyway, I just donated another $4,000 to Nova Ukraine.

@jaredwhite man, it was ahead of time and even today it would surpass most of the market with its possibilities. It was a true computer in the pocket. I was able to play on it Warcraft II, watch Sopranos with subtitles on mplayer, or run a web server! It was able to handle multitasking, had FM transmitter, stylus, infrared port and was able to plug into tv.

From todays perspective it would only lack multi touch, usb-c and nfc.

@jaredwhite perfection was nokia n900. I will never forgive them how they ruined the company and the concept by investing into symbian 🀬

@aniav @agturcz hah, recently I was struggling on eink when author pointed to "box in blue" πŸ˜…

2025-02-02

@aniav @agturcz oh, e ink for me is must have and the only reason to have ereader

2025-02-02

@aniav @agturcz "w ink"?

2025-02-02

@aniav @agturcz its less about needs but more about quality. I also somehow like the fact that its not android and has no apps 😁 but instead its fully dedicated, lightweight OS

@aniav @agturcz love to hear your exp with kindle alternative. Each time I try to research the market I end up with huge "meh" and stay with my paperwhite 1 πŸ™ƒ

@art_codesmith I got the same surprise when adding css bundle with hash, and fetching filename from manifest to put in head tag.

"Look how much code I don't have to write" is a huge factor for rails

@katafrakt "type checking saves relationships" 🀣🀣🀣

@emil takie rzeczy warte sΔ… zarwanych nocy 😍

@katafrakt regarding flow - ot depends how you compose it on infra level. You can combine multiple deciders with reactors and let everything fly between deciders and reactors without infra in between, or push commands from reactor to the bus and process async with infra help.
