@jobsfordevelopers is now monitoring over 300 companies for new job opportunities: jobsfordevelopers.com/companie

This widens the number of listed jobs and improves the data for our salary estimation engine (the website tries to estimate salaries based on jobs similar to the ones with wages mentioned).

New week with new updates for the @jobsfordevelopers website.

The biggest issue job seekers reported was that some jobs were not marked as closed on the website while the application form was closed already.

In most cases, this should be fixed after some debugging and changes in the website's logic.

@melgu @jobsfordevelopers Hi, I'm the website creator. We are trying to parse the salary from the description first, and then, if we don't find any, we do a salary estimate (* on the website).
Thanks for noticing - It's time to update the salary parser with the new case.

@powellnathanj @jobsfordevelopers 😬 there must be an issue with the location name normalization. I need to look at it.

Thank you for noticing that. Both cities are in fact in New Zealand 😅

@meschbach @jobsfordevelopers Hi, pay ranges that are marked as "Estimate" are estimated based on similar jobs in our database and has wider ranges become of that. Those estimates are recalculated every day, and should get more precise over the time.
I go by idea that estimate is better than nothing and is also mark as that for full transparency. I also work on improving that estimation engine for better result.
Thanks for feedback. Hope it’s helps.

@matthewgraybosch @jobsfordevelopers no worries. I try to explicitly mark the estimates (on social “Estimate” in brackets and on the website with an asterisk).
Fortunately, we can get real salary ranges for all of Twitch's job posts for example thanks to legislation in states like Colorado, Connecticut and the EU. Everything else is an estimate based on those published salaries.
#OpenSalaries are IMHO key to ensure equal pay 🙂

@matthewgraybosch @jobsfordevelopers hello, we are estimating salary based on jobs with a similar skillset in our database that has salary provided by the company. The idea behind it’s that a gross estimate is better than no data at all.
That's also the reason why is the range so wide. Estimates are recalculated daily based on the new job posts. I also plan to implement data from industry surveys to get better estimates.
Hopes this explanation helps. Thanks for the feedback.
