@Cheeseness Looks fantastic. I really like the low-poly style. I wish I had the time/energy to learn blender properly. Instead end up just vegging out making stuff in minecraft/minetest :D

@Spoonboy I spent a lot of time play this as a kid... most of it driving around the track backwards to cause crashes.
Of course, the best feature of Indy 500 is the real reason we watched racing irl as kids. The crashes!
The game offers instant replays at any time very easily. Curser keys pause, rewind, change camera angles.
It doesn't hurt that crashes result in very cool sound and explosion effects.
I'm sure crashes happened more than they needed to in this game ;)

talked to someone the other day, who after years of using linux, bought a macbook
without judgement, i sympathized that it must be nice to have a machine that 'always works'
they told me that they actually face roughly as many issues as they did using linux! however, now when they face an issue, they know there is *nothing they can do*, so they just move on

"a popular myth is that people who are Very Computer have computers that work. nothing could be further from the truth. the Very Computer are capable of generating much more novel and fascinating ways to make computers not fucking work and exercise this capability wantonly"

@teek_eh@aus.social I used to get emails along the lines of "you seem to be having problems logging in, let us help". I assumed it was because I wasn't using the account and they thought something must be wrong.
Another option might be something like Zulip chat which has the concept of threads, which would allow people to split off on their own conversations but still be contained in the associated topic/room.
@joeyh@octodon.social An interesting idea. I know matrix.org DMs are just normal rooms, so you split of from a "main" room with 1-on-1s that are public for people to view/join. Doesn't necessarily solve the random part... (maybe a bot to randomly DM users with links to a random room with some minimal context)
I wrote up a list of my favourite shows of the 2010s, I think it is reasonably good https://www.jerrykan.com/blog/2020/02/favourite-tv-shows-of-the-2010s.html
@hyde_stevenson @kaulian @switchingsoftware In the past I've heard people mention groups.io as an option. I've never used it myself, but it might be worth looking at.
