I finished book 38 which was Esther Friesner's, "Here Be Demons". This was an amusing take on some under skilled demons and their rather unsuccessful attempts to corrupt an innocent soul.

It's been a while since I posted book 37, going off grid to get a heart transplant will do that to you!

Hello Mastodon folks. I mentioned that there was a very good reason for me to disappear for 3 or 4 months. There was and I can talk about it now. I had a heart transplant. I entered end stage heart failure early summer and rather than leaving in a casket, I got a new heart. I get to live.

For the record, at least 3 times, I stared Death into his empty soulless eye sockets, took his scythe away from him and kicked the bony arsed bastard back to Hell!

They say heroes save lives. 18 year old Kimber Mills, may she rest in peace, is definitely a hero. It was not by any direct action that she saved lives, but due to a donation of her organs, she has the potential to save several lives.

Hello Mastodon. I wonder how many of you noticed that I have been absent from here for a few months. There is a damn good reason for it and someday I might even give details. For now I will say I had a serious medical condition, potentially fatal, but now I have a new lease on life.

I'm not ready to give the full story, but I will say this, if you are not signed up as an organ donor, I implore you to consider it. I won't judge you don't, but please consider it. If you are, then kudos to you!

@kjheritage Welcome back! 80 quid for a plumber installed tap sounds reasonable compared to what I paid for the kitchen faucet a while back.

I noticed you were absent from social media. Figured you were busy writing, or real life was happening too much. Hope all is well.

In honor of Memorial day, I am on the patio reading Stephen Fisher's "Sword Beach" and James R. Benn's "From the Shadows". Both books come highly recommended. I'm also reading a Dungeon Crawling Carl book, but that does not fit the theme so well.

This is a picture of the 2 books mentioned in the post. They are on my patio sitting on the footrest from that set of patio furniture we bought many years ago. The chairs were crap so we sold them at a garage sale to a real nice couple of women who, may or may not have been a couple, and kept the table and footrests.

I finished book 32 which was the omnibus comic collection, “Star Wars Legends: The New Republic: Volume 8.” These stories take place after “Return of the Jedi” and center around the Yuuzhan Vong invasion of the galaxy. Sometimes a common enemy indeed makes for some very strange alliances.

@Fratm indeed a great movie. I've liked all of Simon Pegg's work that I've seen. The Mission Impossible movies are even better if you view them as Simon Pegg movies.

@joninalbany I was feeling this quote yesterday! "Gee, I thought, it's been a long week. Damn, it's only Tuesday."

I finished book 30 which was Jessica Fletcher & Donald Bain’s, “Murder, She Wrote: Blood on the Vine”. I bought Kat the entire paperback series of the MSW books and I enjoy them as well. They are a quick, refreshing read that I enjoy between longer books.

@gedeonm Go tigers indeed. If you factor in the expected year of co-op, I should have been class of 1994, but I took the whole "10 year plan" bit seriously and due to working my way through college, I took considerably longer. Saved a lot of money with jobs that paid tuition, but it took me 12 years. If you have not been to campus since graduation, you might not recognize it. Lot of new buildings in the past 30 years.
