@diningcar all that rain makes Galicia, Asturias, Pays Basque one of the most beautiful parts of the world, in my opinion, ...I am biased as my ancestors came from Pontevedra.

I haven't been for many years. I need to take my daughters there.

Maybe by train!!

@diningcar My first visit to Galicia, the opposite end to Euskal Herria / Basque Country, was in the late summer sunshine and I asked the taxi driver why is everyone carrying umbrellas?

He replied "You'll see!"

@Dementio13 I haven't been here for ages and don't use facebook, threads etc....

and I'm only here for you as I can't find your e-mail address

John Conolly played this on his fantastic show last night, ABCtoXTC on RTEGOLD

It's a US 12" Tears for Fears mix of Shout

I'm sure in the middle Shaun Ryder is shouting "Oregano Oregano"

it got a new front tyre
so it can get dirty,
and snowy,
then clean again

@Dementio13

I follow a few people on Substack, but I don't like the paywall stuff and the constant haranguing for money

Most of the blogs I have stayed with are still on Blogger & Wordpress

If you can't break it ...then don't fix it ...Boeuf a la mode!

@hftouhf this looks intriguing!

@hftouhf
I've got a garage full of stuff in the north of England I haven't needed since 2016 and a very nice Volvo 850 T-5 with a blown head gasket, that I haven't seen since 2008, in Ireland ...I imagine it may need a bit of WD40 by now!

2023-12-16

I've had a Threads account for a while,
because of its lousy data protection policies,
it has not been allowed to work in the EU

It now can

I popped over there to see how it has developed

'Twitter-on-steroids' ...owned by Zuckerberg!

just chaos,
no way to stop media auto-playing too

Paul @Dementio13

@andreaswiedenhoff
are you doing this with Seat61?

I'm sure he has taken the same trip today

2023-09-20

@hftouhf does the SRH940 have any advantage over the sh771 on 2m / 70cm?
I've found one for 165zł / £30

2023-09-19

@hftouhf

Which is its bigger sister?

this is an online shop I 'trust' in Poland,(I also use Allegro.pl but it can be worse than ebay)

@hftouhf @G5DSG

*cough cough*...

before moving to Poland I bought an all singing all dancing waterproof Baofeng from a bloke in Blackpool for £20

I use that with a Diamond 771, unfortunately bought the wrong mount so have an adaptor and some plastic washers, it is a fantastic antenna

@alrescha yes, that could be the issue, my timemachine backup is on an external and everything is saved to external drives since recent crashes, I think there maybe one or two appa/programmes running from external drives, yet that is how I've done things for years.
thanks though, I'll look into it, after I resolve why it now won't boot in safe mode!

problems yet again

my 2014 MacMini is still clinging to life.

Despite rescuing it a few times recently it now has new problems
1. It won't shut down, just hangs forever.
2. TimeMachine stopped backing up 10 days ago.

any sensible solutions / ideas?

i cant afford a new one

it''s running Mojave,
Monterey was horrible...

Amazing thunderstorm photos captured at 37,000 feet by airline pilot Santiago Borja.

The view from a cockpit window shows a cumulonimbus incus cloud on the left of the frame, towering above the cloud ceiling. A writhing lightning bolt with many filaments arcs from the cloud's right, illuminating everything around it. The twilight sky behind transitions from burnt oranges near the horizon to deep blues aboveA towering cumulonimbus incus cloud appears on the right of the frame, illuminated from within by unseen lightning. It acts as a colossal lamp, filling the space between its "anvil" and the cloud ceiling with a ghostly glow. Above the cloud's "anvil," stars sparkle in an inky evening sky.
