@thomasfuchs just need a Dell tower and some Quake II, couple cherry cokes... Mmhmm good times.
We added #verified links for #WashingtonPost journalists a little while ago, but check out this excellent write-up from @zubakskees on some of the unexpected hurdles we had to overcome, which was just published to #medium
The #WisconsinSupremeCourt just reappointed Trump lawyer Jim Troupis, who worked to overturn the 2020 election, to the state's Judicial Conduct Advisory Committee.
We REALLY need to flip this court.
Greetings, good people of Mastodon. I wrote a column about Daniel Kelly, who is a threat to democracy in Wisconsin. https://recombobulationarea.substack.com/p/daniel-kelly-threat-democracy-wisconsin
Dan Kelly lost to Karofsky in spring 2020. Later that year, the #WisconsinSupremeCourt narrowly decided several cases that could have altered the election results.
"It doesn’t seem like an overstatement to suggest that voters choosing Karofsky may have saved democracy in Wisconsin. Because around the time when Karofsky was ruling to uphold the results of the 2020 presidential election, Daniel Kelly was working on something to do just the opposite."

It's not a news organization.
It's the commercial arm of a political movement specializing in strategic resentment and aggregated grievance in its public-facing self, while behind the scenes it tries to be a kingmaker and boss, riding the tiger of manipulated rage.

@rauschma I'm new to it but some highlights for your apparent use case:
-markdown files
-version control integrated
-cards easily linked to notes
-simple separation of concerns
@rauschma logseq checks those boxes.
The race is nominally nonpartisan, but the conservative candidate, Daniel Kelly, was first appointed to the Court (with no prior judicial experience) after he defended the GOP gerrymander in 2011. He campaigned from GOP HQ in 2020, and is a paid GOP consultant.
Kelly has been clear he will oppose new abortion access or more representative maps. Perhaps the most disturbing part of his record with the GOP is that he was an election counsel as party members pursued a fake elector scheme.
Went to bed before the results came in, but the #Wisconsin Supreme Court #Election will be between Janet Protasiewicz (liberal) and Dan Kelly (conservative).
The election on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 will determine the balance of the WI Supreme Court, which has been using its power in blatant attempt to collude with the State Legislature to cement authoritarian rule in Wisconsin for the last decade.
I'll never not talk about how openly conservatives killed democracy in my home state.
Well, you can say what you want but I found at least one good use of #ChatGPT :rickroll:
Today in life under competitive authoritarianism
Our judicial system, as currently structured, is fundamentally incompatible with actual democracy and the rule of law. This sort of absolute nonsense - where forum-shopping among geographically-specific judges can lead to the imposition of extremist policies opposed by large supermajorities of the public on the entire country - does not happen in any actual democracy anywhere else in the world.
