@Phro this might be a minority opinion, but I would recommend starting with something you're excited about.
And I doubt anyone gets excited about pillow cases.
What would you like to make? What's your goal? What would make you proud to be able to say "I made this"?
Start with that. Because no matter what you pick, you're going to need to make a couple of them before you get the results you want.
Practice really does make perfect. You've got this 💪
@a @resingm I'm merely sharing the info I could find. I'm not involved with the project.
That being said, I certainly agree with the principle, although in practice it's not always that easy.
Except for DNS. If there's one thing that's easy to scale horizontally while mixing tech stacks, it's DNS.
Then again, maybe they are doing this because once again, I know nothing 🤷
@a based on this blog post: https://www.joindns4.eu/learn/knot-resolver-6-updates-dos-protection
It seems to use this software: https://gitlab.nic.cz/knot/knot-resolver
@a Couldn't agree more. But then you know you're preaching to the choir here 😇
@a pretty sure we've got some info & contacts, but I don't remember what TLP clearance they are.
I can look into it if you'd like.
@raphaelmorgan thanks for the love 💜
🤔 I should really fix that preview image
@gunstick @a the thing is: a pull request is not a standard git thing. It is specific to github/codeberg/whatever.
Case in point: gitlab calls it a merge request, not a pull request.
So knowing how to create a pull request is really just knowing how to use a specific web UI. It's not something you can do with just git.
Of course, knowing what a pull request does under the hood will go a long way to overcome your mental block.
FYI: I created this training for that: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL1gv5yv3DoZNIPVAlZRGPEB0fBvflO-xN&si=iduE_RpOxGPBn_-7
@Unixbigot this is a great post. Encouraging to those who do not know, hilarious to those who do.
5 stars, no remarks.
@a @circl @forgejo FWIW, after migrating @freesewing from GitHub to Codeberg, I simply removed GitHub Oauth from the site. I received no complaints.
It's a real tragedy that EU Login is such a commission-centric service that is wholly unsuitable for the public as an OIDC provider.
It would be nice to have some auth provider that is independent and trusted.
Anyway, nice to see you are on top of it with concrete steps 👍
@a Tangentially related: Are you/is Circl sticking with GitHub given everything that's happening in the US?
I'm just curious if it's something that's debated, or not perceived as an issue that needs to be addressed.
Hello mastodon. I could use some help. #fedihire
TL;DR: I was laid off a while ago, and the traditional "go scour job sites and apply" is currently broken. So - let's try social media. Please boost if you are willing, or pass this along if you know someone who needs what I can offer.
I'll be brief: I'm a very experienced System Reliability Engineer, with a track record of dependability and scalability. I take people's problems - stability, uptime, scale, cost, durability, speed, security and attack resistance - and fix them. I have the dubious honor of generally costing less to employ than I save my employer. If everything is perfect - you don't need me. But if you do, you may need me badly.
I'm available. Drop me a note.
I am located in Ventura, California, and strongly prefer remote work. I don't require visas or special accommodation to work in the US.

@eureka That's great to hear.
To be clear: am I happy to make this a joint-venture. I can handle the Freesewing side of things 😇
(En ja hoor, ik woon in Antwerpen. Wat een toeval!)
"Learn the difference between 'helping' and being 'helpy'"
~ @wendynather at #BSidesSEA
(If all you are doing is pointing at things and saying "look I found all these problems" you're not helping, you're being helpy... Being "helpy" allows you to claim that you're part of the process and a valuable part of the team and it makes you visible in meetings but doesn't actually improve anything.)
@eureka wow, thanks that's all very inspiring.
I'd love to team up sometime to bring one of these jeans designs to FreeSewing. It would be so great to try and capture some of your expertise and help aspiring makers get a jump start on a nice pair of jeans they can make themselves.
I imagine you're very busy, but if you're open to the idea, please let me know 🙏
@eureka I am very impressed by how good all of this looks.
I would love to learn more about your setup. What machines are you using? How do you set the rivets, and exactly what type of rivets are they? What about the buttons, the thread, the needles, and so on.
Is there a place I can read up about this?
@matlek_maker @freesewing thank you, that's nice to hear 😇
It should work. Kids that small have larger heads, and Teagan does not use head circumference (it uses neck circumference). So the only caveat is that their head should fit through the opening.
However Teagan had a slight boat-style neck so it might be fine. But check to make sure. You can tweak the neck opening width and depth in the design options (under Style)
If you are an #academic in the #US with a position comparable to tenured or associate professor and a solid research track record in a field related to computer science (treat this in a very broad manner) and are interested in relocating to beautiful, liberal, safe, #Austria, then please reach out to me. We'd love to welcome new colleagues in the Austrian academia!
A couple of us are collecting profiles to potentially match with organizations that are looking to fund such opportunities. Full caveat: I don't yet have concrete positions confirmed, but am trying to get the funding bodies into position to do so.
Please boost!
@finn @commentator2_0 @freesewing Happy to clarify: none of it is a joke.
