I have approximate knowledge of many things.

Yep, I broke everything, cool. Not even tty works, cool cool

Well, I think I finally grasp ECS. I have a working simulation thing that I think is pretty cool. Should I post some screenshots or wait until Saturday?

@Justdaveisfine in a perfect world, I would reach the prototype stage of my games, and when I find a core loop that is fun enough, I would hand it to people to actually do the effort of making all the boring parts, like UI, marketing, and I would focus only on the creative vision, like some sort of guru. I'm not an idea guy, but definitely a prototype guy. I have difficulties focusing after proving an idea to be fun.

Today I did an in-place debian update from Bookworm to Trixie in my main PC. I like to live dangerously.

@afreytes nice planet bro

@ArcanePigeon these also are exactly the new developments on my new game/toy

@lucianorosa good good, let the kernel flow through you

@lucianorosa welcome to the dark side

Rollin' into Saturday like...

@eniko what if it's a quad tree? Those are quadrants technically?

Picard you can't magnify quadrant 07. If it's a quadrant that means there's 4 of em. That's an index out of range error

@scott_fishStuff it's a really elaborated way of listening to an event I guess? hahaha, baby steps

best part of this is that for a brief period of time, I entertained the idea of writing my own ecs framework, so I could learn about each part by building it. After peeking a little on others work and the theory behind it, I was like nope, a small game it is, no framework building (yet)

@scott_fishStuff I feel my brain slowly processing things. I need to take more notes, talking out loud what I want to do, to myself. It's like I'm solving a puzzle from another dimension of something lol.

Good to know I'm not alone. It feels weird to be in this shoes again.

I'm trying my hand at ECS with a small Godot + Flecs game project. It's like having my brain on training wheels. My head is full of shortcuts to OOP because experience, it's so hard and slow to think in ECS terms. Feels like I'm learning to code again, unwinding the paths I have walked my whole professional life, slowly grasping the concepts. This is normal or I'm just getting old?

Astérix & Obélix (Infogrames, 1996)

@dosnostalgic shit now I want to set this up in emulation station so my kids can play, they are into Asterix & Obelix

@dosnostalgic Lucky Luke had a similar one, also from Infogrames. I dare to say it was the same engine.

@dosnostalgic I played this game so much. The coliseum stage had a bug that made impossible for me to run the race. Now I know it was probably a clock speed bug, as I sported a big 266 mhz cpu back then.
