The fact that some people can't distinguish between etymology and entomology bugs me in ways I can't put into words

The tidyverse has a rich #OpenSourceStory, which you can hear about in this conversation between Hadley Wickham and Tracy Teal. Learn about Hadley's early influences as well as how he has strategically kept focus throughout the development of tidydata, tidyr, and more.

Yes, I will get up obscenely early for conducting research in #OpenSource.
It occurs to me that all I have eaten today is coffee and jello.
How different are project’s needs, how do they change over time, and how do we listen to them? Find out in @andypiper's Open Source Story where they talk about community in open source, from low-level protocols to ActivityPub social sites.

@linux_mclinuxface @rbowen @juliaferraioli It’s late at night. The open plan office is almost empty. There are just two people around, gathered around one screen.
“Right, and I want you to write ‘And not like NumberPress Engine, who have never contributed anything to the project’, add that to the middle of the homepage”
“Are you sure sir? Don’t you think the marketing tea—”
“I’ve told you before and I’ll tell you again, I don’t give a shit about marketing!”
(The CEO storms out)
@alex @linux_mclinuxface @rbowen you're hired as the screenwriter
@rbowen @alex @juliaferraioli I'm sure literally dozens of us would love a flagship streaming series on open source drama.
@alex @juliaferraioli I think I speak for everyone when I say this is the open source drama series we all want.
@labria eh, those were downright civil comparatively
@alex the popcorn part is genius
@juliaferraioli In the cliffhanger of season 1, we’ll discover there was a mole working at WordPress headquarters all along! They work for a competitor called SquareSplice, and they were trying to tank WordPress.
In season 2 the web of intrigue will extend further, as we discover that SquareSplice is just a front for another shady organisation!
Because the real villains behind it all are BundlerKist, a company who sells website builders and popcorn machines.
@sjvn @colin_mcmillen o_O
Has there ever been an #OpenSource drama quite to the level of the WordPress/WPEngine feud? What's going to happen in season two???
I don't have resting bitch face; I have a "bitch, I want to be resting!" face.
If you build an application on an open source framework, do you expect all the external dependencies to also be open source?
Once again, #Monktoberfest is making me feel all the things and challenging me in the best way. Thank you Redmonk crew ❤️
@chrisjrn I'll see you soon!!!!
