UPDATE: Here's the latest chart.
We're now at 14,000 new users joining per hour.
By the end of the night, we might have 7 million Mastodon users.
I haven’t come across many #literaryjournalism scholars here (say hello if you’re out there!), but, just in case, I want to share the #cfp for next year’s International Association for Literary Journalism Studies annual conference in Poland… https://s35767.pcdn.co/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/IALJS-CFP-23.pdf @litstudies
Hello @histodons ! We're a narrative-driven, open access, and accessible digital history project bridging the worlds of popular and academic history with an explicitly feminist perspective. We'll be sharing our podcast episodes here, as well as the free resources and lesson plans we've created for teachers to use our episodes in the classroom. Excited to be in this space & joining the #histodons and #podcast communities here
When I was little, I dreamed of being a writer when I grew up, which I thought involved sitting around in pj pants on snowy days and staring out the window while occasionally making words.
Turns out, it IS like that about 5% of the time. The rest is email.
I really despise the adversarial relationship that university financial incentives set up between departments and/or schools. You can’t genuinely advocate for interdisciplinary work while making it so that a program loses money if its students take classes in other programs
I just want to give a massive shoutout to #HumanitiesCommons project website manager. In an afternoon I was able to whip up a #WordPress site for my #Archaeology project to share with collaborators in #Japan, and they are blown away! It's under construction, but the tools make it so I can dip in and out with out any struggle.
Hey #DigitalHumanities @dh folks, ACH now has a Mastodon account: @ach. There's a fabulous professional development series planned for this year starting with "Discerning the Kind of Work You Want To Do" with @katinalynn & @jimmc_grath on November 11th, so follow ACH for updates! #noxp

Hey, folks:
I'm not sure I really know how to link to things here, but let's have a go.
Cat Keyser and I are going to be editing a special issue of Modern Fiction Studies on the topic of "Women Thinking in Public"--here's the CFP:
https://cla.purdue.edu/academic/english/publications/mfs/call/cfp-women-thinking-in-public.pdf
We'd love it if you would boost this widely!

@jimenezvirosta thank you for sharing this! I was thinking maybe it would be fun to share some sources of inspiration here. This is a lovely story about your grandfather too!
Inspired by the sense of possibility & community here & also bc I’m feeling some Pennsylvania pride today, I’ll share a more personal form of #introduction. This is my great grandfather, Martin, born in 1900. He spent his entire career running a linotype for the local newspaper, The Morning Call, in Allentown, PA. This photo is from his retirement in 1977, the year I was born. As a child I never once asked him about linotype machines, but he was playful & funny & kind & I like to think he’s one source of my love of bringing #mediahistory together with #C19Lit #LatinxStudies #litstudies #dh #USLDH

I know there's a thing or two going on but er hi!, my first piece for the @NewYorker@twitter.com is up today! It's a look at the work of Theresa Hak Kyung Cha, the foundational Korean American writer & artist. & it's a goddamn honor to get to write about her 😭
