Last few weeks have been rough, not much to induce excitement. One thing I'm looking forward to is two Dead & Company shows at Folsom Field in July (part of their final tour).

#PorcupineTree & #Tool take me through similar portals, but w/differ flavors. Tool dedicated the #Aenima album to comedian #BillHicks, which is its own beautiful journey. Both are similar to Pink Floyd: each album has its own story arc that's designed to be listened in its entirety & each song explores an aspect of the overall theme. Both delve into large social issues, but colored w/differ sensibilities because of where they grew up (Tool->US, Porcupine Tree->British/European).

The #GratefulDead were 1 of (if not THE) 1st to let the audience tape their shows & share. Just that has enabled a vibrant community that transcends at least three generations. Very similar to #FOSS, at least in terms of community-building & statement about traditional economic models. Their improvisational approach made palpable the ideas of letting things take their own shape, the mess can be beautiful, not getting caught-up in past mistakes & keep moving forward in the moment.

The #GratefulDead, #PorcupineTree, and #Tool are very niche in terms of how they structure their songs. So by virtue of listening to the music itself (not incl lyrics & ideas they present), my mind goes into a trance-like state most of the time. So I'll do my best to describe the portals they take me through in practical/tangible terms.

Boy is my partner rubbing-off on me today...

Lots of #stress & #anxiety related to work & knock-on effects (i.e. bills). Nothing that will cause us to beg/borrow/steal to maintain food/shelter, but lots of "over-worked & under-paid" vibes.

Not able to get much work done today, and >50% chance I'll be diving into my Steam library after work.

I think a #MentalHealth day is in the cards for tomorrow.

I watched Ep’s 7-9 once in theaters, and that’s time I’ll never get back.

I’m terrible in standard job interviews for too many reasons to fit in this post, but it’s gotten worse as I’ve progressed to higher skilled jobs.

After being diagnosed in 2019, I won’t work anywhere that doesn’t proactively implement autism-friendly interview processes.

I no longer have the time/energy to deal w/interview processes that are designed to weed-out ppl that have difficulty reading subtle social cues.

I always take a wait-n-see approach to new software, especially in the alpha/beta stages, because of the relative rate of change. What's true today may not be true next month.

Also, software is a tool. I see so many people (especially in the Linux space) either forget, or totally ignore this fact. Use the best tool for the job...period.

Just because I use Tool A, doesn't mean someone else is "wrong" for choosing Tool B.
