Currently exploring a linear timeline in Bellingham, WA. Before that was Bozeman, MT and before that, upstate NY.
Previous life as an EMT, now living in the domain of #DevOps.
Too many interests and not enough time.
I like to #ski, #run, #ferment, #compute, #photograph, #cook, #explore, #read, and #grow. I do my darnedest to shift my lifestyle towards #sustainability and #reduce my impact. My latest focus includes #rust, #strongtowns, and #permacomputing.

The rack is not secured in this photo so it's at a weird angle.
Bags are done, waxed, and on the bike. This was an attempt at a removable bottom bag used for the water bladder I shared previously.
The top bag is secured via elastic cord and the two bags interface via interleaving webbing, through which I've got a piece of lightweight wood acting as the binder.
The bottom bag has 3D printed supports on the seat tube and down tube. Each consists of two pieces glued to the inside and outside of the bag.
This is Daphnis, one of Saturn's moons. This image shows its unusual gravitational effect on Saturn's rings ...
Daphnis is only about 8 km wide, but its gravity disturbs Saturn's A ring, creating ripples and edge waves. It orbits within the Keeler Gap, a 42 km-wide gap in the rings. This image shows how even small moons can shape massive ring systems.
⬇️ It's a render from 2016 by Kevin Gill. Lots of discussions in the replies.
@oxidecomputer plan B was a quick script to get them into Wallabag for my eReader but they couldn't be parsed. Bummer!
Their native formatting is great so happy to read them through the site. Thanks for making them public.
@oxidecomputer Is there an RSS feed for public RFDs I'm missing? Would love to get these in my feed reader, especially when updated!

Once I duplicate the panels and all the shapes are organized, I'll scale once again to account for shrinkage of the cotton canvas I use. Finally, I can add a seam allowance to all shapes and I should have a finished template.
I'm making a new frame bag for the water bladder I shared in the last post. I've got access to a laser cutter, which I'll be using to cut the panels and other components instead of doing it by hand.
First, I import an image of my bike with a ruler in frame into a document matching the bed size of the cutter. I scale this image, matching ruler dimensions to those within the document. At that point I can easily create shapes to outline the bags.
New 3L water bladder arrived from #Apidura. Gearing up for a few bikepacking trips this year, including making my next generation of frame bags. This is designed to sit at the low point in the frame where the seat tube and down tube meet.
Dug my old Alienware Steam Machine out of storage--remember those? Its got an i3-4170T, Nvidia GTX 860M, and 8GB of RAM but I think it came with 4.
Well now its revived, picking up the torch where it last left off: Folding@Home. Not the most efficient relative to today's hardware but its otherwise sitting around unused.
@dhoppe Haha, thanks for bringing it up :) Monitoring is (for better or worse) the stage after getting my "home prod" services back up to appease both myself and my partner.
I have not heard of Flux but a cursory glance shows me CI/CD so definitely adding this to the list! I need to get my Git/local repo/static site publishing under my control. This looks like the ticket. Thanks!
@lucas3d A particular example is the authors choice to include mounts for `/dev/dri/` devices--this is not needed due to the magic behind the Intel Device Plugins. Including the resource request for `gpu.intel.com/i915: 1` does all the appropriate mounts and permissions behind the scenes!
@lucas3d The only reference I used beyond project documentation was this blog post about getting GPU acceleration configured for Jellyfin specifically which helped me grok some of the setup. I didn't follow it step-by-step as some of the choices made are not necessary, whether that be in general or for my use-case. Regardless, it got me on the right track.

Oh and also built-in #Traefik is configured to dish out my ingress Let's Encrypt certs using a HelmChartConfig.
Getting closer to installing actual usable services on the #K3s cluster. So far, I've got:
- Node Feature Discovery
- cert-manager
- Intel Device Plugins
- Specifically for GPU HW acceleration in Jellyfin, Immich, etc.
- Descheduler
- Longhorn
Next up is Authentik and then off to the races.
Last minute change of plans made for an amazing ride today. This was my last chance to hit the North Cascades Highway, likely for a looong time. Thanks @kajord for the inspo!

Took advantage of the chance to ride the North Cascades highway in fine weather yesterday before it opens to cars (likely next week). Lovely day.
For sure!
