@shawnp0wers I went fully offline and store all my keys & passwords in keepass databases. keepassxc runs great under gnome and plasma, and keepassdx is great on Android. Still need to figure out SyncThing and make a decent offsite backup strategy. Cloud services have bitten me too often for my paranoid liking! :psyduck:
#NoteToSelf -- the reason your car interior isn't heating up is because you left the temperature dial on cold. Also, get it together, self.
"The pen is mightier than the sword" always meant to me that violence could be overcome through words -- that thought and knowledge would bring peace.
But as I've watched the world the last few years I'm realizing how simply and incompletely I understood the phrase. Language is not good or evil; it is simply powerful. Its power is to make us *do*, in the service of good, or evil, or love, or hate.
The pen is mightier than the sword, in that one word can raise a thousand swords.
@grumpygamer Keep your wallet in your front pocket! :D
@mothcub I think that line about "accounts created soley to.." is their plausible deniability exception, to allow them to arbitrarily enforce the rule and pretend that bannings are justified. It gives them a way to pretend that inevitable vicious actions to silence dissent are just mistakes by overzealous individuals or algorithms in the pursuit of justice and fairness.
Quality Inn and their lawyers would like to remind you that it just says "quality" without specificity. Poor quality is still a quality.
With all the new mastodon instances, I'm wondering how many admins are prepared for law enforcement (or other) agencies to come asking for people's information. In many cases the law enforcement is not entitled to this information, nor needs it, but how many admins know what to do and how to be sure they only respond to legitimate requests? And even what their own rights are in these situations? (Which will vary according to local laws.)
When gathering together a few dozen #receipts to submit for your travel last month, don't carry a glass of water in the crook of the same arm holding them, and definitely don't bend over to grab another receipt. Just hypothetically speaking.
@trollbreath42 Congratulations!!
Contract has been signed/counter-signed, and I can report that sometime in the not too distant future, I'll have a novelette appearing in Analog magazine. Obviously thrilled beyond words, especially considering it's such a down-to-earth, slice-of-life style story. Just set in, you know... a space colony. 🙂
@CV0001 Sleep and dreaming are also quite important! :)
@CV0001 I meant that talking to the important folks in my life is key to staying grounded & sane, but because of my ADHD I struggle to actually remember to do it. And it also helps me to stop what I am doing when it's time to call a friend, because I have an appointment, like having a workout buddy :blobcat:
@PiecesOfKate can I put in a recommendation for Loom, the version with full voice cast? You may have already played it -- but it is a deep favorite of mine and I couldn't resist bringing it up!
I've found that the only way I will remember to reach out and stay in touch with the important people in my life is to schedule it. Feels silly to have a standing weekly meeting to call a friend, but #Compensating for #ADHD brain saves my sanity.
Re-acquainting myself with the #concertina is fun. I figured out the pinky pain issues I was having last time I played -- I have a habit of trying to straighten and flatten out my pinky to hold the instrument more securely, when I think I need to keep it curled along with my other fingers.
There is one slightly reluctant reed that I still need to tweak so it sounds along with the others, too. But overall it's nice to see I can progress.
@jade @AccordionBruce @luke @susannemclon@mastodon.ie @meanwell @ursaborealis @givre @tomkeays @jillsheep Perhaps you could knit a full handwarmer/muff setup to allow playing outdoors in the winter! :blobcat:
@susannemclon@mastodon.ie English, a 30-button Stagi. How about yourself, do you prefer either?
