What would be the essential features that you would expect in a #team #chat? I mean features that you actually use at work or in association, or you would very much like to see.
I'm asking to check how far we are in common #XMPP clients, but don't hesitate to quote features event if they are already present in some clients.
We have a few Christmas gifts in the pipeline for everyone using a Kosmos account:
* @remotestorage service going into beta testing this week
* E-Mail service available soon (currently in private testing)
* Mastodon accounts becoming full Kosmos accounts, with access to the other services

The votes are tied between yes and no. However, nobody replied with their reasons for wanting to keep a shorter limit.
May we ask again? π
You've probably heard about Meta's upcoming microblogging app by now. Their plan is to eventually join the network of servers that you're reading this on. Here's what to know about it from the Mastodon perspective:
https://blog.joinmastodon.org/2023/07/what-to-know-about-threads/
A question for kosmos.social users: should we increase the character limit for posts on our instance? (Very long posts are usually cut off in your timelines, with an option to open the entire post.)
Happy New Year!
Just a reminder: We are considering to participate the Google Summer of Code 2022! #GSoC
If you are interested as a student, mentor or as #XMPP project in general add your ideas to https://wiki.xmpp.org/web/Google_Summer_of_Code_2022 and reach out to us via xmpp:gsoc@muc.xmpp.org?join
Welcome @gitea to the fediverse on their very own instance!
We're moving status and incident updates for Kosmos infrastructure to a new account!
Please follow @ops if you're using any Kosmos services, or if you're interested for other reasons. Thanks!
A little kosmos.social feature update: you can now properly search your entire history of posts and favorites in full-text.
Hat tip to @gregkare for setting it up.
You can now also connect to our XMPP server directly on the Tor network. Just use the following address as server/host:
ht6eqe754p3m2gif.onion
More info: https://wiki.kosmos.org/Services:XMPP
By the way, in case you missed it, you can always check how we configure Mastodon, as well as other Kosmos apps and services, by looking at our infrastructure code.
Here's the current PR for Tor support for example: https://gitea.kosmos.org/kosmos/chef/pulls/95
Feel free to open new issues or discuss existing ones over there!
Maintenance finished.
You can now access this instance from within the Tor network at the following address:
http://mastodon.ezilrofakzrogqfi.onion/
In fact, this very post was submitted from Tor Browser. πΆοΈ :tor:
Caveats: unfortunately, after redirects (e.g. login/logout), you'll have to manually replace "https" with "http" in your browser's address bar. And please be aware that images and other user files are still requested directly from AWS.
Enjoy!
kosmos.social maintenance starting now. Hopefully no downtime, but you may lose access for a few minutes...
macOS and iOS users: What are your favorite XMPP clients on Apple platforms?
Welcome to Mastodon v2.9.2! You can now upload audio files. Thus, the icon for the uploads changed from camera to paperclip. Enjoy!
kosmos.social is now running Mastodon 2.9.0, which comes with a shiny new one-column layout. If you're not a fan of the Tweetdeck-style columns, be sure to check it out! (Also nice with the light-color theme version.)
Just go to preferences and remove the checkmark from "Enable advanced web interface".
