I think both are true: AI is a bubble and AI is a transformative technology that isn’t going away. Think dotcom in ~2000. The Internet is transformative but the first wave of money had no idea what to do with it.
Section 230 is an important protection for sites that host user-generated content. Without 230’s protection, any website that allows other people to publish on it wouldn’t be legally viable. It allowed the Internet to develop beyond only content published by individuals on their own sites.

Austin’s Prop Q, approving a property tax increase for a variety of things, doesn’t look like it’ll pass based on the about half of the votes cast. IMO, too much loose spending by the city lately & too bleak of an economic outlook for people to feel great about this. #atx

Holy cow! Vandegrift HS Band’s equipment trailer was hit by a train on their way to perform at the 6A State Band Contest! Other bands helping lend equipment and their performance time was pushed back a few hours.
The AWS outage didn’t impact my day-to-day work, but the Azure outage has. We use Playwright for e2e testing and it can’t download Firefox (from it’s own mirror), so a lot of failing builds for us right now.
Oh, the irony that a Microsoft outage prevents access to Firefox.
I feel like, when a service charges a cancellation fee, they should do something when they cancel on you.
My in-laws just dropped off their Christmas Card. Their 2024 Christmas Card. It’s been later and later each year—Valentine’s, then Easter, then summer. Pretty soon, they’re going to make the whole cycle.
I don’t like my birthday. It’s like any other day, except if something crummy happens, it feels worse since “it’s my birthday”.

Listening to NPR after dropping off the kid at school this morning. First was an interview with a GOP House Rep on his position on why the shutdown is a Democratic problem. Second was a story about how Federal intervention in Memphis would be helpful. This is the liberal media that Trump defunded.
