Fascism didn't suddenly become popular. It's not popular. Except with the bottom 15%-25% of shitheads who would vote for anyone that promises to hurt their perceived enemies.

What has happened is that liberalism has failed. It has been a planned failure, happening in stages for the past 40 years, at least, wherein institutions and the very concept of liberal democracy have been hollowed out to make room for the cancerous wealth of white billionaires, fascism's most ardent supporters.

@nixCraft after Basic Pascal was a real thing for me. In year8 I managed to check the code of Wizardry and 'amend' it to the joy of the teacher in 1982. We had characters gain levels a little to fast. But it got me hooked

Interesting.

Are we still being held back by our expectations of current tech? Can we progress faster if we dump past standards and limitations?

Thinking of new ways to an outcome is not always written in the past.

Our expectations hold is back.

Meta will allow political ads that claim the 2020 election was stolen.

YouTube will no longer remove videos making similar claims.

Monetizing lies has become a big business in America. It’s one of the core challenges to democracy.

@hypeav I presume it's cause red paint is more expensive.

I wish they honored their credits.

Should Qantas post massive profits after getting a massive payment from Australia to stay alive through COVID ? Should they at least honour the credits from cancelations?

If you're using Mastodon through the web on a computer, there's an optional multicolumn interface you can use instead of the default single column one.

1. Log in through your server’s website
2. Click ⚙️ Preferences
3. Tick the box marked Enable Advanced Web Interface
4. Click the Save Changes button
5. Click the Back to Mastodon link at the left of the screen

If you change your mind, click the ⚙️ icon on the left to get back to settings.

More info here:

One reason I'm avoiding MSN.com (which DuckDuckGo often directs you to):

"Microsoft’s decision to increasingly rely on the use of automation and artificial intelligence over human editors to curate its homepage appears to be behind the site’s recent amplification of false and bizarre stories."

@arstechnica is this the watermark / copyright ©️ benchmark the on line community needs ?

, a huge area of discussion is needed. But, YES.

It would be great that all copyright media was by default protected from AI designed to use its content to source material.
