I have been working with #SQLServer since 2009. #DBA, #StarTrek, and #collegefootball are some of my interests.

Also: #sqlfamily
#NBA
#Celtics

Do you want to give back and feel like you are part of something important?

If so, get involved in your industry's professional community. I'm glad I started attending and speaking at Microsoft SQL Server events. They are great ways to make new friends and find professional and personal support.

I look forward to the privilege of presenting this year, and I know I'll meet new people and reacquaint with people I already know.

@dgmelkin I love this post. A few years back, I was fortunate enough to have email mentoring from Paul Randal, and it was a good experience.

@cafechatnoir So adorable!

@catsalad @Sheril I think right now I would say "The Obstacle is the Way" by Ryan Holiday.

Is there any information specifically on the impact of enabling wait stats capture in query store? I'm in a hyper-cautious company and am being asked about this.

Erin Stellato has never mentioned anything about it, and I don't recall it being me tioned in Tracy and Grant's book on query store.

I stand with Ukraine and the truth that Russia is an invader.

Just bought a wooden twin bed frame from Wayfair for the basement office. My wife has been quite sick recently, so I was sleeping on an air mattress downstairs to better my chances of staying well.

The cat put her claws in the air mattress, so that's the end of that! We have wanted a bed in the basement for various reasons anyway. So, now's the time!

Boycotts are taking hold. Protests are on the rise. Federal courts are hitting back. The Trump-Musk-Vance regime's popularity is plunging and DOGE is losing credibility. In these dark times, it's important to recognize that people are fighting back. Join them.

Stencil street art on a concrete wall depicting a black figure, possibly a representation of resistance or justice, wielding a club and chasing a red swastika-like figure that appears to be running away. The artwork conveys a strong anti-fascist message, symbolizing the fight against Nazism and hate ideologies.

Trumpโ€™s second-term honeymoon is ending fast. His approval is plummeting, his policies are unpopular, and even some Republicans are pushing back. The cracks are showing, and thereโ€™s no hiding it. Catch up on the latest with The Big Picture's 'Week In Wins.' thinkbigpicture.substack.com/p

Here in Saint Louis, MO, it has been brutally cold for us recently. I spent most of last week inside at home.

I'm out and about today, having lunch at a childhood favorite called Long John Silver's. I'll probably go look at some computer hardware since the wife wants a Windows 11 compliant pc, and I'm looking for a mini-pc that I can test out various Lunix distributions on bare metal.

@DaveMasonDotMe I picked that one because I know it's still popular. I've been told it's easier to learn than postgres by someone who knows both. Also, I've tried multiple times to set up postgres, and every single time, I get authentication errors and can't connect to it. I have no idea how anyone can learn that platform.

@DaveMasonDotMe He is a very smart player. I love watching his game. He had early chemistry with Luke Kornet. I finally see evidence in recent games that Tatum is building chemistry with him as well.

@alevyinroc That's kinda interesting.

It also reminds me of many environments where a proof of concept was built, abandoned, and then left behind in the database for other people to later wonder, "What the heck is this?!"
