Have you always wanted to know more about Bayesian estimation? Or are you somewhat familiar, but would you like to delve deeper into the magical world of priors, posteriors and how to go from one to the other? Register for our summer school course: "A gentle introduction to Bayesian estimation" in which we go all the way from "What is a prior?" to informative priors and shrinkage priors, whilst also discussing correctly reporting results.

🚨I promised I'd say more on the Royal Society and Elon Musk, so here it is. 🚨

I've resigned my position as Associate Editor at Royal Society's journal Open Science in protest at their lack of action over Elon Musk.

En fruktansvärd tragedi. En hustru mister sin man, barn mister sin far. Allt han gjorde vara att cykla och följa trafikreglerna. Och blir då krossad av en ouppmärksam förare av en bärgningsbil.

🐾🐱 The lynx is back!

The Iberian Lynx has made a remarkable recovery, moving from "Endangered" to "Vulnerable" on the IUCN Red List.

Thanks to 20 years of dedication by the EU’s #LIFEProgramme for the environment, this threatened feline is stepping back from the brink of extinction.

From only 94 individuals in 2002, the population has grown to over 1,000 due to concerted efforts in habitat restoration, prey availability improvement, and breeding programs.

Why yet another IDE? @Posit created Positron to be multi-language and designed specifically for data science tasks, @juliasilge tells #PositConf2024 . Positron is "an early stage product", she notes. "There is no need to switch today".
@Posit is committed to support RStudio for the long-term and expects people to continue to use the RStudio IDE for "many many years," she added.
Positron currently supports #Python and #R but more languages can be added.
