Linux Audio Development

We aim to make #linux more attractive as a platform for computer-based #musicproduction by encouraging audio vendors to make their software and plugins available for #linuxaudio.

I actually managed to squeeze in a new #linuxaudio soliloquy #video today. πŸ˜…

It was fun. 😎

The topic: β€œFavorite vs. Missed Plugins on Linux.”

For this, I made a little jam… πŸ™‚

I hope you enjoy it as much as I did making it. πŸ˜‡

@rtn Perfect! One of my interview partners recently nailed it for me, "Still learning and exploring because it's actually fun." πŸ€“

I'm making slower progress than I would like with the initiative. There are just too many things going on in my life right now. But I'm not complaining. It's all a lot of fun! πŸ™‚

And, in this very moment, I'm working on another interesting #linuxaudio #developer #interview.

Me to myself: "Take a deep breath. Focus on the present moment. Enjoy! One thing at a time." 😊

Just a moment ago it was 7 a.m. and now it's already 11. πŸ«£πŸ˜…

@rtn I think you mean the Linux Support Request Tracking at linuxaudio.dev/linux-support-r. It is linked in the "How To Help" section.

As soon as I have time, I need to add a navigation and search to the website…

@rtn To be honest, I didn't have to do anything at all. I connected it, configured the channels in Bitwig Studio via PipeWire, and was able to use it right away without any further adjustments. πŸ€”

Of course @amadeus has already reached out to Mike from ACMT and made a really great interview for @linuxaudiodevelopment

You can find that review here: linuxaudio.dev/linux-audio-dev

@rtn I am extremely happy to be able to do this work and delighted if it adds value to the #linuxaudio world. 😊

I own an EVO4 myself and use it with Bitwig Studio on my laptop when I'm on the goβ€”it works really well for me with PipeWire. I see no reason why it shouldn't play nice with Ardour.

Have fun! 😎

@eamonn Ah, interesting! πŸ€”

About 10 years ago, I had a similar idea for a Plugin Manager and talked to some developers about it. They all told me that solving something like this satisfactorily across platforms and formats would be nearly impossible.

But I'll definitely take a look at it. Thanks for sharing! πŸ€“

@mosgaard @theonlywaveforms Yes, I completely agree with that as well.

Ideally, an explanation would be displayed when attempting to execute non-supported package formats. Like, for example, when double-clicking a .deb file on Arch Linux.

It might also be nice if, the first time a .sh file is double-clicked, a corresponding explanation is displayed.

On the other hand, there are certainly arguments against mechanisms like this, and some things users probably just have to learn on their own.

After quite a while, the Linux Audio Development #peertube account was activated yesterday. 😊

I have therefore just uploaded the first video, "Linux Audio Development Website Walkthrough", to PeerTube.

@ambientspace This is new, right? Looks sweet! I'll be happy to push it asap.

Just to avoid any misunderstandings, Linux DAW is @alf's project. I just made the logo for it a while ago and regularly contribute plugins.
