The Holocaust did not begin with killing; it began with words.

Genocides do not start with mass murder. That's where they end up.

Genocides & other mass atrocity crimes begin with words - specifically, with powerful people dehumanizing a minority.

Once they are seen as less than human, anything is possible, even mass murder.

@georgetakei This would explain why I like the Easter Bunny better.

“We've arranged a society based on and technology, in which nobody understands anything about science and technology. This combustible mixture of ignorance and power, sooner or later, is going to blow up in our faces.”

@CalNativeLandscape Are you trying to follow people who aren't on the climatejustice.social server? I found sometimes I can follow, sometimes I can't if they are on other servers.

To log in for the server we are on, the address is

Trying to log in through mastodon.com won't work. I had a hard time with that when I first signed up.

@CalNativeLandscape Yeah, I can see where some people are just getting ready for the crash by going limp, then they will pick up the pieces. I guess I will be in crash avoidance/mitigation mode until the bitter end... But hey, someone has to keep turning that steering wheel to jacknife behind or mitigate the crash some other way.

I think the only way to prevent the resurgence of what is destroying our world is a democracy based nwo in which everyone is raised with a concept of free will... No set destiny, no... megalomania, etc. No racism. Have to tear down the idea that democracy was founded in Greece, when it was actually Egyptian.

A lot of things have to be sorted out now so the next generation can keep it moving forward.

Cant kick the can down the road anymore.

It will take 3 - 5 generations, with each generation having specific goal sets to meet.

2022-11-25

@CalNativeLandscape Yes... This started long before baby Bush. The problem is the 8 years he was in office were the crossroads. He was a key player in making the worst decisions possible for our nation and world. Eveything from pre-emptive war to failure to push for consumer based green.

And yes... The seeds of new beginning grow from that which has passed or is passing. My concern is the level of vitality and utility. It seems so much weaker. I look back at pictures from the 40s to 80s and I see this downward trend, but not severe. 80s to Y2k it was getting more obvious. Also foods had less taste less filling. These last 20 years.... I don't even know how anyone could miss the weakening of vitality. Today is much worse. I don't know how to explain it. All I know is the coming hardships... Most of the next generation won't make it.

@jamesy Thx. I'll be fine once the air pressure stabilizes.

2022-11-24

@jamesy I agree.

Ok... Let me do some noodling around for some other tools I've come across over the years.

Won't be today though, getting over a sinus headache. I get them a lot when the weather is volatile, as I have some bone missing post op for dental problems. Long story. I trust my sinuses over the weather forecaster.

15+ years in freelance writing... So my clients come up with all kinds of things to collaborate with editor teams etc.

My other thought for testing out website ideas is Weebly. The free account lets you build 10 sites with a very simple backend. They don't index in Google, but you can get that with a paid account.

@jamesy

Its not so much about resisting the gov. They can't force you to buy fossil fuels or eat meat.

It's about overcoming the resistance to change in the people.

It's about re establishing free will and the concept of choice and understanding of consequences.

Gov cant do what people must do for themselves, nor can they stop people.

There are definitely enough collaboration tools to bring people together and organize the events. It will take more than one and actively listening to the need of the people and finding viable answers.

Like... I am writing an ebook on 11 plants to grow inner city and lawns to save the rainforest.

People will change if you give them a viable option.

Trello is one collaboration tool that might help with organizing and brainstorming.

2022-11-24

@CalNativeLandscape We can't. There was a time when we could have made the jumps that would allow more centralized growth. I feel that window closed under baby Bush. Now... We must live within much narrower means, or it will be done for us.

2022-11-24

@jamesy I don't think it will change anything because leaders for all their arrogance and ego are trapped by the needs of the people. When we stop eating meat and using fossil fuels our leaders can also stop subsidizing because there is no need.

@CalNativeLandscape I can tell you one fascinating thing... 1 20" rectangle planter is enough to grow enough herbs for tomato sauce if you keep them trimmed right. I keep garlic chives, thyme, oregano, cinnamon, thai, sweet, and holy basil, parsley, rosemary, Russian tarragon and onion chives.... One row of each with the exception of the basils.

Hungarian sweet banana peppers will grow and produce year round in a 6" pot. Bell peppers on the other hand will shed their leaves.

2022-11-19

@CalNativeLandscape I'm doing a lot of this. My focus is on indoor containers for herbs and edibles like peppers. Also I am working on a book about how we can save the rainforest by home, inner city land and lawn grow of 11 crops. Everyone can help.

@justliz I *might* do a vignette piece or something pointing out the endemic racism in Egyptology and use this book as an example. As I said, I didn't understend then what I was up against and why.

2022-11-19

@justliz John A Wilson... This was the Egyptologist that I had to read from - I think.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_A._

The text I had was Culture of Ancient Egypt, which was a minimal rewrite of his earlier Burden of Ancient Egypt. Disgusting book from cover to cover if I remember right because all he did was call Egypt a culture of stagnation.

2022-11-19

@justliz Look into the research on female pharaohs. A lot of good stuff there. Also the newer digs in the community areas. Royal tombs and such is where it's the most hackneyed, as are the translations of the "sacred texts".

2022-11-19

@justliz Challenges of today are rooted in yesterday. We are lucky though, because we can learn from the past and choose something much better.

2022-11-19

@justliz Some visit down memory lane... Haven't thought about this in decades. And I do thank you... Until now I didn't even go full circle with the fact this was about racism.

2022-11-19

@justliz Yeah. My professor was up the walls because I was bucking the established view that the Egyptian culture was an autocracy that stagnated itself into oblivion. I forget the name of the Egyptologist. This is back in the 90s. But yeah, I almost got referred to committee. My summary facts like the changes in architecture, and newer materials about middle and new kingdom discoveries... Professor had to back down. It was tense though. Back then I didn't realize it was about race.

2022-11-19

@justliz And further back in time... Like around 196 BC, sure... There was immense competition to dominate the known world.

This wasn't so much what can be good in a democracy based nwo. This was about subjugation and destruction of cultures and people who didn't look like the conquerers in order to control mass labor and vital natural resources.

This is the origin of racism. It is flat out about greed and ego now as it was then.
