I’ve mentioned the concept of “kayfabe” (or fake, staged, manipulated narratives) as perhaps the best way to understand the current state of politics. It also deeply intersects with manipulation by “political technologists,” active measures, and reflexive control. Here’s a good piece on it by someone who studied the subject.

This makes me sick. Facebook is re-platforming Trump. Lies don’t lead to “informed choices at the ballot box.” Just the opposite. They deceive, radicalize, polarize, repel the electorate & harm democracy. And Trump has plenty of platforms. He is neither silenced or silent.

I pretended to have a heart attack to see what my pets would do. My dog started pounding on my chest to perform CPR. My cat cashed out my 401(k) and started a salmon farm in the back yard.

California bans non-compete agreements and it means that if an employer wants to keep you, they need to have policies that promote retention, and not just a threat over your head in the form of a non-compete. This means policies like fair pay, good management, employee-focused plans, and creating opportunities for growth need to be part of a business plan, not just the power to be able to put someone out of work because they left your business.

Also, in states that ban non-competes, a worker is still prohibited from taking confidential information or clear trade secrets.

This is a move in the right direction in the empowerment of workers.
