But there are joys too. We love riding our bikes to the baseball game or museum, using our bike trailer as a stroller, walking to the neighborhood ice cream shop with our baby in a wearable, etc.

That isn't to say there aren't challenges. The biggest are:
- the "biking black hole" during a baby's first year
- streets that are hostile to pedestrians (especially toddlers), and
- the lack of family-oriented #housing.

We've lived it, moving from #DC to #Columbus when we wanted to have a second kid and couldn't find a three bedroom apartment we could afford.

Look, it's not about forcing everyone to be #carfree, it's about building cities where families have real choices. Thanks to @OhTheUrbanity for starting the conversation. We're adding our perspective with three kids and from the Midwest: urbanists.video/w/cWVTCWiA95Kw

There is a frustrating cultural expectation that families will move out to the suburbs when they have kids. But kids love to #bike, take #transit, etc. #Cities are better for kids, giving them more independence and exposure.

We love @OhTheUrbanity’s car-free baby video. But what happens when you have three kids in a city that isn't Montreal? We break down the reality of urbanist family life—the gear, the challenges, etc. WATCH: urbanists.video/videos/watch/6

USAID cuts will kill 14 million people over the next five years. That is an incalculable loss.

Some comparisons:
- COVID has killed 7 million people worldwide
- About 10 million people died in the holocaust.
- Mao’s great famine killed 15M+.

We should talk about these cuts in those terms.

Huge turnout at #HandsOff Durham, NC. I never got a look at the full crowd so it's hard to estimate but I'd say it was close to or over 10k people.

Huge turnout today for the #icotownhall and folks are fired up. None of our elected officials showed up, but folks in this room are ready to organize and take action - protests, contacting their reps, registering voters, winning elections. We’re not backing down!
